Hello Steelheaders,
The summer in full swing brings lots of fun and travels; I hope everyone is healthy and safe while camping, fishing, and enjoying their favorite getaways in the Great Lakes State.
Our summer picnic was a great success and was enjoyed by over fifty people. We also had an excellent turnout for the panfish tournament—congrats to our first-place winners in all the categories.
Our next tournament will be the Lake Michigan Memorial on August 6th out of South Haven. Contact Dan Foster to sign up. We have over six boats as of now. Dan has all the info on times, weigh-in, and cost. If you have any questions, you can call Dan or Jeff.
The Veterans outing is on August 20th; if you want to participate, please get with Dave Middleton ASAP.
There will be no meeting again this month, but we will return to regular meetings in September.
Please keep posting your summer pictures and make sure you send your Big Fish entries to Denny.
Have safe travels, and we'll see you soon.
Jeff

Tribal Negotiations Updates
Angling Groups file motions to intervene in Tribal Negotiations
On Wednesday our association along with the other members of the Coalition to Protect Michigan Resources (”CPMR”) filed a motion with the Federal District Court to intervene in the Tribal negotiations. We took this step because the State in our opinion is abandoning the sound biological principles related to the fishery and the 50-50 shared allocation of the fishery set forth in the 2000 Decree. We are bound by a confidentiality agreement not to discuss any of the specifics being considered in negotiations so please don’t speculate or try to elaborate on the press release. Direct any inquiries to me at 616-298-8842 or to Nick Green with MUCC at 517-346-6486. The next step will be for Judge Paul J. Maloney to rule on the motion. We will keep you advised.
Thanks,
Dave
