Inaugural Connaught Major Research Challenge for Black Researchers

The Connaught Major Research Challenge for Black Researchers program aims to strengthen U of T’s Black Researchers’ contributions to addressing major research challenges through the advancement of knowledge and the transfer and application of solutions. Black-led major research challenge teams will initiate collaborations involving U of T researchers and students from multiple disciplines, along with international collaborators, innovators and thought leaders from other sectors.

A&S Tri-Campus SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant Information Session

A&S faculty and staff will provide an overview of the SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant. A panel of U of T faculty members will share their insights and experiences with the funding opportunity and discuss strategies for successful proposal planning and development. Registration required.

CIHR Summer 2022 Project Grant Writing Workshops & Peer Review Session

This series is for research faculty who are eligible to apply for CIHR Project Grant funding, led by Professor Jennifer Mitchell of the Department of Cell & Systems Biology — a multiple CIHR project grantee and Peer Review Committee Member — who will be joined by guest grantees and committee members.

Wellness in Practice Series

The Minds Redefined Team invites all A&S staff, faculty, graduate students and postdocs to participate in a weekly social activity to promote community, connection and wellness. Register for our upcoming events:

A&S SSHRC Insight Grant Workshop

The A&S Research Services Office is hosting a workshop for faculty applying to the Fall 2022 Insight Grant competition. This session will focus on crafting key sections of the SSHRC Insight Grant including the detailed description, student training and knowledge mobilization. The session will offer faculty members the opportunity to ask Funded Research Officers questions pertinent to their applications.

Jackman Humanities Institute Postgraduate Professional Development Day

A&S humanities and social sciences faculty are encouraged to share the Jackman Humanities Institute’s Professional Development Day event with graduate students. This online workshop will feature speakers from U of T and beyond, including sessions on applying for postdoctoral funding and full-time postdoctoral jobs and how to look for and apply for postings outside academia.

Data Sciences Institute

  • Data Access Grants: Grants of up to $10,000 are available to cover costs associated with accessing and working with large data sources. Deadline: September 30, 2022.
  • Seed Funding for Methodologists: This seed funding is designed to encourage new collaborations between data science methodologists and theorists with applied researchers. Deadline: October 14, 2022.
  • Research Software Development Support Program: The aim of this program is to help researchers refine existing software tools to improve usability and robustness or build new tools, disseminate research software beyond the research space in which it is created and enhance existing functionality. Deadline: October 21, 2022.

The 2022–23 Schedule of Meetings for the Graduate Curriculum Committee has been released. The Faculty asks that all academic units confirm their 2022–23 membership.
