God of the Impossible!

“Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

Luke 18:27

The prodigal son chose to rebel against his father, but in the case of our boys they made a choice to leave due to a lack of provisions. Life quickly diminishes and all hope is destroyed on the streets for many young children especially boys. Survival begins to take over, and the mind is quickly captivated by any substance that will numb the pain of separation, hunger, trauma, and loss.

One year later, hope has been restored, and lives have been redeemed because a stranger saw an urgent request and responded. The boys are living a new reality. They have been blessed by continued care given by our supporters, missionaries, and partners.

Recently, Amin and Dani had an opportunity to travel home to Jimma to find their parents, and let them know how God had rescued them from the streets of Addis. Our goal is to reunite families if at all possible. Many questions were answered by their parents on their behalf. In the case of Dani’s mother, she had the opportunity to receive funds for having orphan status. In Dani’s case, life at the BTM/Hand in Hand group home will continue, but his mother was given the money to expand her business to help provide for his younger siblings. Dani’s life has truly been changed from the inside out! Amin’s father was extremely overwhelmed to see his boy after a long day of laboring. He is grateful his son is well taken care of at our group home.

Our May support trip was blessed to spend 6 days with the boys building relationships through fun activities such as: playing cards, dance, bible studies, meals, and an adventure trip to the Portuguese Bridge. Dani, Amin, Elias, Biruk, and Tsehaye are blessed to have a place to call home, a place to take refuge, and a place of surrender. A new life is not easy to embrace. This involves allowing the old to pass away and the new to flourish. Please continue to pray for our boys that their hearts and minds will be restored through love, biblical truth, counseling, and education.

Orphan CARE!

My prayer is that we will keep  “what if '' out of our vocabulary and trust the God of the impossible to provide for missions work.

Four teams have traveled from May to July, and we are joyful to see them experience first hand a day in the life of our families living in both Korah and Chirkos. Each team was stretched to the limits.

Our May team traveled from Oklahoma, and engaged our sponsored families through sports camps, songs and dance with Korah 1, 2, and 3 school programs. We were challenged with a Medical Clinic led by Ms. Karry and Dr. Abenezer at the BHDO Center, and family home visits in both Korah and Chirkos with both organizations. We had a wonderful time with our group home children living just blocks from the center. Our team also enjoyed Emma Geswein Bekabil, BTM missionary who led 3 amazing women’s bible studies.

The Rauch family traveled in June from Montana, and they sponsor Mulualem, a young teen living at our group in the Korah community. The Rauch family had an opportunity to serve our church in the countryside, visit families living in Korah and Chirkos, provided postpartum home visits, encouraged our orphans living in group homes, and a wonderful trip to minister in Yirgalem approximately six hours away from Addis Ababa.

The Shropshire family from North Carolina was blessed with a family vacation/mission trip. They served our orphans in the program, participated in a feeding program, and enjoyed an adventure to the Hawassa region approximately five and a half hours from Addis Ababa.

Our July team traveled from Virginia consisting of Danielle, Suzanne, and Genieve. They enjoyed meeting and blessing their sponsored families. They also collected rain gear for our staff, helped with food distributions, took a trip to the countryside, and fed our church in the countryside.  .

Do you have a desire to travel on one of our support trips? God’s time is not always our timing! For nearly 20 years my heart was to travel anywhere for a short term mission’s trip. Be There Ministries provides an excellent opportunity by partnering with two organizations in Ethiopia. BHDO is located in the heart of Korah, while Hand in Hand serves in both Korah and Chirkos, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Lord has an unique and life changing experience for each team that travels with us.

Our next trip is planned for September 28- October 8, 2022. Would you prayerfully consider joining us!

Missions Inquiry!

It’s always fun to catch BTM founder on a mission! Mel had the opportunity to help her daughter-in-love through birthing Shiloh in March. She also had an opportunity to bless all of our orphans who received a day of fun at Kuriftu. Thank you to many supporters who made these special memories to occur  on their behalf!

God is so good to allow Jennifer Pasos, Assistant Director of Be There Ministries the opportunity to celebrate a milestone birthday in Ethiopia. She loves spending time with both organizations, and serving with her Ethiopian family.

When you think your circumstances are difficult, and there is no way out, know that the God of the impossible sees you! You are not forgotten. He has a plan for your life, so live each day for His Glory!

Prayer Request:

  1. Safety for our staff, families, missionaries and those traveling to serve.

  2. That God will soften the hearts of the Ethiopian people.

  3. That the Lord will be glorified in all that is done on the grounds.

  4. Our hearts will be drawn to the Truth that sets people free, and with wisdom and understanding families and communities will be changed.
