We Need to Feel Something

We want to be modern but we may be Team Boomer on this one — QR Codes for menus ain't it. Even an online newsletter wants to put its phone away and get its digital hands on something that doesn't require a thumb scroll. Our phone is always at 2%, and we need that to make sure it gets to eat first.

FORWARD TO SOMEONE WHO ENJOYS BEING LEFT BEHIND BY TECHNOLOGY

Here's Your Donut Content

While we wait on the owners of Granny's Donuts to decide the fate of the business, we're filling up on all the food groups wrapped up in one donut burger from It's Allgood Food Truck

Yes, you're looking at a beef patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion between two whole donuts. You might think all those fixins have to be just for the 'gram, but they get along way better than your divorced co-workers. Can't bring yourself to order it all the way? Try it with just bacon and cheese.

Truck owners Sherri and David Allgood had wanted to open a food truck for years, but it wasn't until Sherri took on a flexible position at a local nonprofit that they were able to hit the gas on their idea. Her favorite menu item is the Philly Steak Sub — but the donut burger is what stops traffic.

Find the truck parked at Blendz Barbershop, 1020 West Pennsylvania Ave. in Southern Pines, every Monday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., or at events from here to Winston-Salem and Greensboro.
