Letter from the Editor.

Well, it's official. I don't have bed bugs!

(But I knew that).

I had a Bug Guy come out to my house to look at my forest-facing basement room that I get some rather gnarly bug bites in. Bug Guy did not see any bugs. I could have told him that there would not be an obvious solution or else I would have solved this mystery 8 months ago! Great to a get a second opinion nonetheless. And Bug Guy put down some cool bug traps. I wonder what we will find.

I have been paddle boarding on the weekends. Now that I have a standup paddleboard (cool kids and my mom are calling it a SUP), I am have become somewhat of a river rat (RR). In fact, I even see the same river rat, AKA nutria, every Saturday around noon. At first I thought it was a beaver, but then I saw its gross thin tail. I also regularly see a bald eagle friend and one time I even saw a deer napping down by the water.

My birthday came and went! I got to see a Thorns FC game. When I tell you the Thorns scored three times in the first 11 minutes, I am not lying. So do not call me a liar. The Thorns are just simply that good. They even finished the game 5-0 against Gotham FC. Batman is going to have some words for them on the bus ride home.

On a much sadder note, someone in my improv community passed away this week after a tough bout with some ongoing health issues. We were able to gather online with people across the country to tell stories about their life which was really lovely and a wonderful reminder of how many people we touch with our lives. So remember to treat those around you with kindness and joy. You have a greater impact than you know!

Now for something a little lighter, I got the Wordle in one guess this week. Then the next day I got it in just two guesses. I am on fire, but that is somewhat expected for an experienced puzzle-solver like myself.

I had avocado toast this weekend. It was my first time ordering it at a restaurant. I am finally coming into my Millennial Final Form.

Bo the Dog, the Director of Barketing at work, celebrated his 14th birthday. To celebrate, we made some fake magazine covers with his photos. They were a real hit. Another testament to my ability to doctor photos using PowerPoint. What a powerful program.

I'm sure other things happened recently. After all, I did finally get those sunglasses I ordered in the mail. Review below.

Stay cool in this heat wave and don't forget to listen to Beyoncé.

What's in a Name?
I recently sat down to watch an episode of The Bob Newhart Show, starring Bob Newhart. I was obsessed with this show when I was seven and hadn't watched much of it since. With fresh eyes I realized the main character in the show is Bob Hartley. Not Bob Newhart. I brought this concern to my dad and he was unfazed. Apparently many shows with famous comedians used the comedian's name, not the character's name, for the title. Really makes you think.

Kent Wang Sunglasses
In the midst of my summer lull, my Kent Wang browline sunglasses arrived in the mail. They arrived like a long-awaited ship in the harbor. As soon as I read the NYT Wirecutter review of Kent Wang sunglasses (albeit, the keyhole frames), I knew that these were the sunglasses for me. They are classy, somewhat expensive, and made to last. Kent Wang carries four styles of sunglasses and that's all they need because each style is perfect. Looking through my new sunglasses has been great and shady. And that's exactly what this summer needed, a little eye shade from the sun. When your future is as bright as mine, get Kent Wang.
Stranger Things
I started watching Stranger Things back in 2016 and I did so reluctantly. I do not normally enjoy scary monster shows. But everyone in my college house was watching, so it all felt safe enough. I fell in love with all the Stranger Things characters. This summer I found myself back in the scary arms of Stranger Things, peeking through my fingers at the screen for about 80 seconds of every episode. Stranger Things is such a phenomenal show that I don't even care how scary it is. I need to know what happens in Hawkins, Indiana. And now I wait for another 10 years before the next season comes out!
Renaissance
Beyoncé made a dance album. I listened to it with my sister as soon as it came out because I was ready for Beyoncé's dance album. I am constantly impressed with Beyoncé's musical lexicon. Some of her references and samples are within reach, some extend beyond the scope of non-musical genius. She is a student of the art and with her new album has yet again taken a genre, twisted it, molded it, and sang deep pools of unexpected back up vocals on it.
