MORE OPPORTUNITIES ARE COMING IN SEPTEMBER!
WORSHIP NEWS
AUGUST SERMON SERIES DOWNTOWN 9:30 AND 11:00 AM.
Beginning August 7, our Time at the Lake sermon series will explore stories of Jesus that take place at Lake Gennesaret/Kinneret, otherwise known as the Sea of Galilee, and how each may tell us something about God and about ourselves.

Through the scriptures, we will do some boating, have a picnic, and encounter a herd of pigs.

Come dressed in your lake attire as we enjoy the final weeks of summer - and connect with Christ and each other!
AUGUST SERMON SERIES WEST CAMPUS 10:00 AM.
Beginning August 7th, our "Country Music Out West" August sermon series will take a look at a few country music songs and how each might have something to tell us about the nature of God.  Country music is storytelling at its finest, and many times we can relate to the stories they tell.

Can we find hope in the lyrics of a country music standard? Yes. Can we find connection within the swagger of a Honky Tonk song? Of course.

Join us for our "Country Music Out West" series as we take a closer look at the harmony between the Gospel of Jesus and a world that sometimes lives in a minor key.
Chancel Choir:  Our first rehearsal of the season will be
Wednesday evening, August 31 in the choir room at 7:30 pm.

Been thinking about singing?  Come give it a try!   All are welcome.

SASS Socially Active SeniorS
August will continue to be hot - just as it usually is here in Kansas!
You might take a vacation then!  You might be keeping grandkids to help out just before the start of a new school year!
But you just might enjoy time with a fun group of people at the SASS activities in August.  See the SASS Event Calendar here.
Note:  No Pickleball on AUG 9 and 12.

Big Garden Update:
If you haven't noticed, the Big Garden is growing strong, even in the toasty Kansas summer. We have delivered 699 pounds of fresh produce to Just Food so far this season, and we have all the beds replanted with more vegetables to come! A BIG thanks to all our volunteers who make this ministry possible.

We have also identified the new location for the Big Garden at West Campus. Due to some anticipated road construction, the garden (including our fruit trees) will be moved this fall to the west side of the parking lot. So, stay tuned for pictures of the progress! And if you are interested in helping with the move (digging, building raised beds, putting up fencing, and the like) or in having your own 4x8 garden bed next year, please contact Laura Irick at l.irick@sbcglobal.net.
Wesley Walkers Organizing an FUMC Group for Walktober 2022.
As we have in years past, the Wesley Walkers will be organizing an FUMC group to participate in Walktober, a month long walking program in October hosted by Douglas County and Lawrence Memorial Hospital. It is a great way to get exercise and meet some new folks. We will also take our annual trek to the Kanza Prairie Nature Trail for a group walk in the Flint Hills. If you are interested in more information about Walktober or participating in Walktober, please contact Laura Irick at l.irick@sbcglobal.net.
