LITURGICAL FORMATION
This coming month of August, every Wednesday evening from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, is another opportunity for Liturgical Formation at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

It is intended for those who want to be altar servers, readers, extraordinary ministers of communion and greeters at Mass. Father Rector welcomes anyone who is interested. This liturgical formation is also designed for those who are already fulfilling those ministries enumerated above.

In this Liturgical Formation, Father Rector will lead participants about active participation in the Liturgy.
The General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) with emphasis on the two major parts of the Mass (The Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist), reverence, proper gesture, and posture at Mass will be read and discussed.

He will present the General Principles for the Liturgical Celebration of the Word of God and introduce participants to the different ritual books we use at Mass and other parish liturgies.

He will also present the Norms for Extraordinary Ministers of Communion and ways that those fulfilling this ministry can assist the priest in visiting the sick and the homebound.

In the aspect of hospitality, he will share Scripture passages related to the importance of providing hospitality for those who attend Mass especially Sunday Eucharist.

Ultimately, the goal is to provide formation, training, and workshop to everyone interested; so that those who fulfill different liturgical ministries will be knowledgeable in the Liturgy.

The poster above has the specific dates assigned for each ministry. Participants from other parishes are welcome. To register, please e-mail liturgy@shcpg.ca or phone Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish office 250-564-5225.
VISIT TO THE HOMEBOUND
Fr. Rector tries his best to regularly visit Catholic residents of Fort George Manor (Thursday) and Simon Fraser Lodge (Friday). If you have family members that you want Fr. Rector to visit, please inform him by calling the parish office.  During the visit, Fr. Rector celebrates Liturgy of the Word with Communion. At the request of the residents, he also listens to their confessions and of course, if needed, the Anointing of the Sick.
GRATITUDE
TODAY, Fr. Rector has received $1,600 from anonymous donors. The donation is intended for the celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass at the Cathedral.

Thank you for the financial support. The intention of the donors will certainly be honored.
Last Sunday, the Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM USA-Canada) joined our parish community at the 11:00 AM Mass. They served as the choir and readers at Mass.

Members of the RVM USA-Canada are gathering in the Diocese of Prince George this week. Two of them (S. Vinda and S. Marife) are assigned in our diocese. In addition to their ministry in the diocese, both S. Vinda and S. Marife are actively assisting at the Cathedral in the areas of music, sanctuary preparations i.e.. flowers arrangements and/or decorations, occasional office staff' replacement.

Fr. Rector is grateful for their presence in our parish community and for the support they generously provide.
