Letter from the Editor

Happy August from everyone here at the Kent Dems. This newsletter serves as a final reminder that tomorrow, August 2nd, is Primary Election Day. Polls will be open 7 AM - 8 PM and there are many important primary races and millages on the ballot--so please make sure to vote. We should be proud of the depth and activity of our party and celebrate an election with so many Democratic candidates willing and able to run. If you'd like to monitor election results on the 2nd, here's a site for Kent County.

Our members are very passionate about issues and candidates, and our views are very diverse. We're a big-tent party with many stakeholders and the only way Republicans succeed is when we work against each other or stay home during elections. We have a real chance to do something special here in Kent County from the Congressional race all the way down the ballot. So, let's close ranks, embrace our diversity, and work together to show that the road to power in Lansing truly runs through Kent County. Please join us at the Kent County Democratic Unity Breakfast on Wednesday, to show just how united we truly are.

Unity Breakfast

The Unity Breakfast on Wednesday, August 3rd at 10am will bring together candidates, volunteers, and party members to restate and recommit to the goal of electing all Democrats on the ballot in November. Join us as we talk about our plans for the last 100 days of the cycle, and look ahead to victory in November.

We would greatly appreciate your attendance as we work together to move the Democratic Party forward. Please register here. A light breakfast of pastries will be served.

Canvassing Strategy Event

Now that the primaries are over and we have a final slate of candidates, it’s time to finalize our get-out-the-vote (GOTV) plans, mobilize our canvassing teams, and hit the streets!

Join us Sunday, August 21st at 6:30 PM for a combination planning, training, and social event all in one. Talk strategy with candidates and party leaders; learn the best tips and tricks that can make canvassing FUN and rewarding; and make your personal canvassing plan for the midterm election.

County Convention

The 2022 County Convention of the Kent County Democratic Party will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 10am, held remotely via Zoom. The purpose of this county convention is to elect Members and Alternates of State Convention Committees and to consider resolutions to be forwarded to the State Party and considered at the MDP Nominating Convention.
