Latest from Brunton Park

United kick off the new season today against Crawley Town amid controversy caused by a video released by the Sussex club ahead of kick-off, and subsequently taken down. The incident may add some spice to a fixture that would not usually be seen as having any particular needle or rivalry. Crawley were recently taken over by new American owners who specialise in crypto currency and their approach has ruffled quite a few feathers already.

Manager Paul Simpson has hinted at some injury problems ahead of today's opener, but he did unveil Jamie Devitt yesterday. The 32-year-old has been part of United's pre-season despite not getting a new contract at the end of last season. The experienced Irish midfielder has now agreed terms to stay at Brunton Park for the next 12 months.

Meanwhile youngsters Max Kilsby and Sam Fishburn have been loaned out to Annan Athletic and Blyth Spartans, respectively. Kilsby joins Peter Murphy's Scottish League Two outfit until January while Fishburn, who went out on loan to Lancaster City last season, will join the National League North side for the next three months.

Some things may not be relevant at board meeting level but both our reps have regular contact with various people at the football club and your issue will be raised with the appropriate personnel, should it require an answer from the club. As attendees at meetings of Carlisle United Supporters Groups we also have the opportunity to raise concerns, queries and issues in that forum as well.
