CHAPTER MEETING/PROGRAM
Monthly Chapter night meetings will not be held in July and August.  September 13th we will return to our monthly 2nd Tuesday night meetings with a CELEBRATION! Stay tuned for details!

Meanwhile, if you hear of a good topic for our FALL monthly night meetings, know a good speaker on or demonstrator of a topic of interest to the outdoors and/or recreation, then please contact Howard Pardue, our Program Coordinator. Hpardue@comcast.net
HELP NEEDED:
The chapter has a few volunteer positions available. If you are interested contact ApalacheeFTA@gmail.com. Positions require a FTA Membership.

  2. Newsletter/Website Editor
    Responsibility: Time: 2-4 hours a month. Maintaining the chapter website (Wordpress); Email blasts using MailChimp. Maintaining the email list as new members are added for mailchimp. Compiling the monthly e-newsletter. (here are previous ones if you want to review:  https://us12.campaign-archive.com/home/?u=d94e2bfb893d536c0ce84bc23&id=dfaedfb427  ) Verifying the events posted in the newsletter against what is posted in MeetUp. Good editing skills. All can be done virtual. 
     
  3. FNST Section Leaders
    The Apalachee Chapter maintains the Florida Trail from the Aucilla River west to the Apalachicola River, including the Aucilla River & Sinks Water Management Areas, St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, and the Apalachicola National Forest. In addition, members maintain loop trails at Fort Braden (Lake Talquin State Forest), Phipps Park, and Torreya State Park. Section Leaders coordinate trail maintenance for areas with the Apalachee Chapter.

AUGUST 2022 ACTIVITIES
 

Please read the GUIDELINES FOR OUTING PARTICIPANTS before signing up for an activity. This will make for a better outing experience.IMPORTANT: New COVID guidelines from our state office require that in order to participate in any Florida Trail Association activity or event, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a negative COVID-19 test result no more than 72 hours prior to attending the event. Individuals who wish to participate in an FTA event will be asked to sign an Assumption of Risk form on the day of the event attesting to their compliance with these requirements. COVID Resources.

WED, AUG 3 - 8:30 AM  - Heart and Sole Urban Walk: Miccosukee Greenway, Crump Road Trailhead - Come at 8:15 am and be ready to hike a 4 – 6-mile loop (2 -3 miles in and back) at 9:30 AM sharp. Bring snack if needed, water and hat and wear comfortable clothes and appropriate shoes. Come hydrated. Bring a chair/beverage for post hike cool down and visitation. We will attempt to maintain a pace of 3.0 - 3.5 mph. SUN, AUG 7 - 8:00 AM - ANF Trail Maintenance - Western Apalachicola National Forest - We will be maintaining the Florida Trail in the western section, usually between the Ochlockonee River and the Apalachicola River. All tools and safety equipment will be provided, however if you have special tools of your own, feel free to bring them. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes and prepare to work in water at times. Bring lunch, snacks, bug repellent and sunscreen and plenty of water. All skill levels are welcome. Work involves blaze painting, lopping and mowing.We usually work 4 to 5 hours, depending on weather conditions. Should return to town early afternoon.
