Welcome the fall harvest season at this fun annual event! Trade your extra fruits & veggies, herbs, preserves, baked goods & crafts with your neighbors, and leave with plenty of new and exciting things to try & enjoy. Only have a few things to share, or nothing at all? That’s OK! Creative & non-material barters & freebies are always a possibility here.

Items for swapping might include things like (but not limited to):
-Fruits & veggies from your gardens
-Preserves and ferments (sauerkraut, jam, etc.)
         -Baked goods
         -Maple syrup or honey
         -Homemade cheese, yogurt, butter
         -Dried herbs, tinctures, or salves
-Flowers, fibers, seeds, & crafts would all be fun swapping items

Please arrive on time (1:00 pm) so you don't miss any swapping.

Rain? We'll be under cover at Fairgrounds, but in case of torrential rain our raindate is the following day (Sept. 25th) at the same time.

This is a free community event. Donations to support the work of Neighborhood Roots will be gladly accepted, though!

Easy-Peas-y Local Food - Coming Soon!

Do you love local food? If so, get excited! Our tiny pilot local food buying group will soon be expanding to become the Neighborhood Roots Local Food Hub. We'll be setting up shop in the Broad Brook Community Center (BBCC) in November, where we'll be able to offer a convenient and affordable way to buy local.

The Neighborhood Roots Local Food Hub will distribute local produce and products direct from several Guilford farms and from Brattleboro's Food Connects food hub. We're really happy that we're now authorized to accept SNAP/EBT, too. Individual orders are placed online (biweekly) a few days ahead, then picked up at the BBCC on Wednesdays. It's a lot like an online farmers market!

If you'd like to stay in the loop about our biweekly local food market, and want to be put on a "waiting list" to join in the fall, you can do that here: https://bit.ly/3sXW9rp. If you have any questions, get in touch!

We still need some things to get the Neighborhood Roots Local Food Hub set up at the BBCC in the fall. We've made a wish list of a few items that we'll need in the fall. Please let us know if you would like to sponsor or donate any of these items. Thank you!
  • (1) Large industrial metal shelving units (something like this)

  • A hand truck or dolly (something like this)

  • Oh! and also, a large wooden picnic table (or two!) for the Autumn Hill land, so we can begin to host community events and gatherings there.

  • We can always use general monetary support to help with development of our programs and projects, too. Please give if/when you can.

Fedco Trees Group Ordering Discontinued 😢

After a few wonderful years of easy group tree ordering, Fedco just announced that they've discontinued their group ordering option for Trees. That means that it'd be back to the old days of aggregating group orders in a more labor-intensive way. So, we won't be organizing a group Fedco trees order for spring 2023. Sorry about that! If someone else in the community feels like organizing, we'd be happy to help out, though! (let us know)

We will still organize group Fedco Seeds, Bulbs, and Growers Supply orders - have no fear!

Season's End 2022

Comfrey Commons is now closed for the season. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported our cute little pay-what-you-want plant nursery! We plan to open again in May, 2023.

This year, we donated
$175 to The Retreat Farm, and $175 to Neighborhood Roots Food Collective - and dispersed well over 500 baby plants into the world!
