Our summer students headed home over the weekend, and our campus is abuzz with energy and excitement about our students' return at the end of this month! We are looking forward to welcoming you back home to the Magic Mountain in just a few short weeks. Please read this email carefully for important updates to help you prepare for your arrival.

UPDATED ORIENTATION SCHEDULE
Orientation begins on Monday, August 22 for new students and Thursday, August 25 for returning students. To review the full list of events and the most Frequently Asked Questions surrounding orientation, please take a look at the newly updated orientation schedule attached here. Please note that ALL families (new and returning!) are welcome at our Parent Association reception on Wednesday, August 24. Please see the schedule for more information.
RSVP TO NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
Families of new students, please RSVP using this short survey to let us know who from your family will be on campus for New Student Orientation. We have many events for families of new students across the three days, and we can't wait to welcome you to LAS!
AN UPDATE FOR NEW STUDENTS FROM THE ACADEMIC TEAM
Families are invited to Academic Advising!
At LAS, we pride ourselves on providing the most suitable academic program for every student, whether it is the IB Diploma, high school diploma, or a combination of all three. You may have already seen the many course options we have at LAS—at orientation, each new student and family will go through individualized Academic Advising to learn about the subjects they wish to study and how those subjects align with future university opportunities. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Academic team at academicadvising@las.ch. We look forward to meeting your whole family at the academic advising conferences very soon.
UNIVERSITY ADVISING INFORMATION FOR GRADES 11 + 12
Grade 12 students will hit the ground running when they return to school. Grade 12 students—please read the email from Rich Modica here. Grade 11 students will meet with the University Advisors during Student Success class in the fall and then more regularly during the second semester as they prepare for the university search and application process.
AN UPDATE FROM THE IT TEAM
Students will receive LAS computers, WiFi codes, and SIM cards during orientation. All students are required to use their Swiss phone number while they are at LAS. Although students may bring their own laptops, they will use their LAS laptops if they need to use any of the LAS-provided software (Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, et cetera).
ACCOUNTING AND INSURANCE UPDATE FOR NEW STUDENTS
At orientation, new students with family permission will receive a prepaid card that we will load weekly with their pocket money. If you have questions about pocket money or student finances, please contact accounting@las.ch.
Due to federal requirements, all LAS students must have comprehensive Swiss insurance (health, accident, and liability). LAS will make all the necessary arrangements for this coverage for students who are non-Swiss residents. If you have any questions, please reach out to insurance@las.ch.
FALL BREAK INFORMATION COMING SOON
By September 15, we will share more information about our on-campus, school-sponsored Fall Break options. If you are interested in having your child stay at LAS (or go on an LAS-sponsored trip) during the break, keep an eye out for more details coming soon!
IMPORTANT! LAS TAXI RULES HAVE CHANGED
Due to safety issues, LAS no longer allows students to take taxis during the academic day.
LAS provides transport for students between buildings throughout the day. BEC students may continue to take taxis during lunch and all students may take taxis between campuses and into the village after the end of the academic day.
