Foundation for Cancer Care Celebrates Cancer Survivor's Day With Members of the Dewdrops Support Group

National Cancer Survivors Month is celebrated every first Sunday in the Month of June and this year, members of the Dewdrops Support Group, Lakeshore Cancer Center's Cancer Survivors Group; came together to celebrate this event on the 25th of June.

Highlights of the event include; a social painting session, a session on nutrition and diet, survivor stories, treasure hunt games and a session delivered by Dr Mutiu Jimoh, in-house oncologist at Lakeshore Cancer Center.

Also in the month of June, Dr Izuhunwa Amadasun, a member of the Dewdrops Support Group and stage 4 colon cancer survivor launched her book "Rooftop" sharing her cancer journey to inspire other survivors. We are glad to be partnering with Dr Izuhunwa to reach more cancer patients who require financial support, as she has committed to donating part of the proceeds from the sales of her book to beneficiaries of the Foundation for Cancer Care.

Cancer Education and Screening Outreaches

The Foundation for Cancer Care visited Kuramo Senior Secondary School and delivered a Cancer Health Talk to over 300 students. The girls were taken through a practical session on self breast examination and educational fliers were distributed to all the students.

Also in the 2nd quarter of 2022, The Foundation for Cancer Care in collaboration with Lakeshore Cancer Center provided Clinical Breast Examination to over 70 women during at the Onikan PHC during a medical outreach organized by the Dennis Ashley Medical Center at Onikan Primary Health Center in Lagos Island.

In the month of July, the Foundation for Cancer Care collaborated with the medical team of Lakeshore Cancer Center to provide Breast and Cervical cancer screening to about 100 women at a medical outreach organized by the RCCG Olive Tree Church in Ikoyi, Lagos.

In the Month of July, the Foundation for Cancer Care sponsored 15 women from the Loving Gaze Foundation of St Kizito Clinic to have free breast cancer screening (mammograms).
