August at GSAS: Need to Know

The fall 2022 registration process begins today with check-in in my.harvard! The course enrollment deadline is August 26.

GSAS Welcomes 2022 is right around the corner! Current GSAS students are invited to join new ones at the GSAS Families Brunch, Student Involvement Fair, GSAS Student Center Open House Party, and GSAS Lunch on the Lawn. RSVP today!

Today (August 1) is the last day to apply for a November degree in my.Harvard. If you plan to graduate or receive your master’s in passing this November, make sure to submit your application!

Submit an order for a fall (September through December) MBTA pass by August 8. Make sure to read through the FAQ on the GSAS website for more information about pass ordering, delivery, and replacement.
 
Harvard has expanded the existing dental insurance plan for students. Enrollment is not automatic. Salaried PhD student workers and those receiving tuition and health fee coverage may receive a stipend to cover a portion of the cost.

Opportunities and Resources

Join the GSAS student-only Slack workspace. Created and managed by the GSAS Student Council, there are channels for job and funding opportunities, hobbies, and much more. For more information, visit Engage

Register now for the Bok Center’s Fall Teaching Conference! Registration is now open for the Bok Center’s Fall Teaching Conference. Fundamentals sessions for new TFs will be held on August 18–19 on Zoom, and in-person sessions for all TFs will be held in Harvard Hall on August 23–25.

Make $15 an hour assisting with fall move-in on Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Additional shifts may be added.) Learn more and sign up by Friday, August 5 at 5:00 p.m. 

The Women's Center is now hiring for the women in STEM (WiSTEM) mentorship graduate coordinator position. This is a paid, part-time position for the 2022–2023 academic year. Find out more about the job and send your application—including resume and cover letter—via email to Heidi Wickersham.

Earn $6,000 as a Diversity and Inclusion Fellow! Any GSAS student who is currently a G-2 or above, in good standing, and registered for the 2022–2023 academic year may apply to be an Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Diversity and Inclusion Fellow. Students may visit the GSAS website to learn more. Applications must be submitted by August 15.

Harvard Horizons Scholars receive $1,000 in professional development funds, in-depth coaching to improve presentation skills, and valuable feedback on their research ideas. Students may visit the program website today to learn more. The application opens in September!

Health Services

The enrollment deadline for fall term HUSHP coverage for dependents is Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Visit the HUSHP website for more details.
