HOPE Recovered Newsletter July 2022

The God of the impossible

Although it was a holiday month, there was lots of action at HOPE Recovered. From youth camp to the launch of a new program. Seek the face of God with us as we need his help to run all that HE has put on our plate smoothly. We all want the Kingdom of God to grow, but at the same time, it is evident that with our current human and financial resources, it is impossible. We are so glad we serve a God of the impossible.

Launch of the HOPE Recovered Computer Lab

On 30 July, HOPE Recovered welcomed Nedbank, as well as Father Fit for Generations, to join us in celebrating the launch of our computer lab for the youth of Lethabong! The youth were present to listen to each organisation's encouraging speeches and celebrate the beginning of a new step in their educational journeys. We are very grateful for the donation of 5 laptops from Nedbank and office furniture from BDO South Africa. Now the youth has the opportunity on Saturdays to be trained to use computers and receive tutoring in math and English. An impact team from Nedbank is committed to teaching digital tools, self-mastery, CV writing, interview skills, managing a budget etc. Nedbank's impact team is excited about this new journey and is looking forward to growing this centre to fulfill the dreams and aspirations of the youth.

HOPE Recovered makes a difference!

The program of the launch of the Computer Lab started at 10 am. Raphael discussed with some of the youth what time he should pick them up. They all said 7 am. "We want to help!" Imagine a teenager getting up early on their off day to fetch water from the water tank, bath and prepare for a special event to be ready by 7 am! So Raphy picked up the first load at 7 am and the second load at 7:45. When the event finished at about noon, none of these young people was thinking of going home. No, they enjoyed their laptops, or let's rather say, free internet and youtube. We just let them spend time together, and they had a blast. On the road back home, someone said, "it was the best day!" The others all agreed.

Emilie's time is coming to an end

The time of HOPE Recovered's first international volunteer is already ending. Emilie is leaving in a few days. We are very grateful for her support and the hard work she put into HOPE Recovered, especially the library expansion. She registered over 2000 books for the children and the youth of Lethabong. We will definitively miss her humble and serving heart.
She shares:
The past 2 1/2 months have passed by so quickly, and yet, during that short period, I've felt so welcomed and loved. I can tearfully say I'm leaving family behind. The people of South Africa have truly touched my heart, and I can't thank HOPE Recovered enough for allowing me to be a part of this beautiful organization where I've witnessed God's work through the people who have made this all possible. Raphael and Gontse Richli, thank you for inviting me into your home and hearts. God is doing and will continue doing amazing things through your faithful obedience to him and through HOPE Recovered. Although my journey is coming to an end here, I'm already hopeful for the next time we meet!

Library

The Library is running smoothly with the additional space creating more room, which is quickly being filled by new faces as well as old. There are currently over 2600 children's books at the Library. We were able to add some more books for the youth as they keep coming to the Library all the time. For the youth, there are novels, school books on different subjects, dictionaries and encyclopedias for them to improve their academics or do some research.

The first Camp

HOPE Recovered's Youth spent 4 days at Rocky Valley Christian Camp in Krugersdorp. Thanks to the organizers of the camp, "Uncle G" and "Auntie Brown Sugar," the 40 or so children and teenagers that attended, participated in fun activities such as dancing and singing competitions, hiking, and even swimming in a heated pool! Inspirational speakers came to share their testimony and stir the hearts of the youth. Amazing volunteers freely offered their time to make sure the kids had yummy meals to eat, and warm bonfires to circle around in the evenings. Throughout this experience, everyone, adults and youth alike, were able to strengthen their faith and break physical ailments and emotional strongholds over their lives. Most of our youth came home with an award, best female leader, best preacher, best female camper, winning team, most active camper, ...

From Good Intention to Good Action

Did you ever wish you could make a difference but didn't know how? Here are some ideas to step into significance:
  • Visit the expanded Library for children in the township. We would love to take you on a tour.
  • Join the board of HOPE Recovered. We need a treasurer and a secretary.
  • Inspire others about the work of HOPE Recovered, raise awareness of the challenges of children and youth in the township and raise funds for the necessary HOPE Recovered Center in the township.
  • Offer your time and get involved in the lives of the children and youth as a volunteer.
Don't hesitate to get in touch with HOPE Recovered if you are interested in building the Kingdom of God with us - for His glory, for His honour and His praise.

Graduation at Lighthouse

Once again, Gontse was asked to speak at the graduation of about 20 people of all ages who finished a 3 weeks course on children's ministry at Lighthouse children's ministry. They shared what they had learned and presented an example lesson for the visitors. Gontse addressed the graduates, encouraging and urging them to put the knowledge into practice. The course equips you not only as a Sunday school teacher but for life whenever you come in contact with children.

7 Funders Challenge

The vision of HOPE Recovered is to establish a fountain of hope for the young generation. Let us rescue them from falling into a hustling lifestyle, trying to survive without making their lives count or achieving significance. To escape the poverty cycle, they need access to high-quality educational assistance, the opportunity to learn vocational and entrepreneurial skills, and most of all, to find purpose in life as they follow Jesus. They have the potential to make a significant difference in their families and communities as they follow God's beautiful and satisfying plan for their lives.

With only 7 individuals, organisations or companies who make a significant contribution of 75'000 CHF, USD or EUR, HOPE Recovered can acquire a 5ha property on the edge of the township to establish such a fountain of hope. Are you one of these outstanding individuals?
Pledge your support today and enable us to submit an offer to buy the property.
Is this the future fountain of hope pouring into the neglected and disadvantaged community of Lethabong (meaning: a place of joy), replacing the hopelessness with joy and bringing its name to life?
