Twin Cities, Twin Ports nurses to take action for CEO accountability as retention and care crisis worsens
Hospitals are understaffed, nurses are overworked, patients are overcharged, and hospital executives are making millions
MEDIA ADVISORY
(St. Paul and Duluth) – August 1, 2022 – Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Nurses with the Minnesota Nurses Association in the Twin Cities and Twin Ports will take action for accountability of CEOs and other executives as the crisis of retention and care in Minnesota hospitals worsens. One recent study revealed that half of all nurses now consider leaving the bedside in the next year due to short staffing and moral distress. Just 15 percent of nurses in the survey felt staffing levels in their workplace are safe for patients and nurses.
The Tuesday actions come as MNA nurses have repeatedly called for hospital executives to solve the crises they created in our hospitals. From proposed legislation before the Minnesota Legislature last session to the current negotiations of 15,000 nurses for a new contract, nurses are seeking solutions to short staffing and retention that will put Patients Before Profits in Minnesota hospitals.
