In Appreciation of Our Petition Endorsers & Campaign Sponsors

EPA has just 43 days to decide whether or not to grant our Petition – on the basis that greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution “presents an unreasonable risk of injury to health or the environment.”

We appreciate each and every Petition Endorser and Campaign Sponsor. Your participation is crucial to making our case to EPA, and to the President!

Our individual endorsers and sponsors are quickly approaching one thousand – a new benchmark! And that does not count our five individual Petition Signatories: Donn Viviani, James Hansen, John Birks, Richard Heede, and Lise Van Susteren. Learn more here

As for the organizations endorsing and sponsoring, we are well on our way to reaching a hundred. And that does not count our two organizational Petition Signatories: Climate Awareness & Solutions, and Climate Protection & Restoration Initiative. Learn more here

We are also fast on the heels of nearly a hundred people who have submitted comments in support of our Petition through our public comment tool.

Altogether, we are just shy of half our goal of 2,857 actions in support of our Petition and Campaign by EPA's September 14 deadline.

That means the time to act is now. We must mobilize our networks. Use the links in the footer below to share this email with others. Invite family and friends to Endorse the Petition and Sponsor the Campaign, and then Like and Follow @CPRclimate on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. And if you have yet to endorse and sponsor, you can still do so here

In case you missed it . . .

Last week, CPR Initiative General Counsel and Executive Director Dan Galpern reviewed the Inflation Reduction Act proposal from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin. Some of its provisions are good; others, not so much. See A Real Climate Breakthrough? Or, Kicking the Can Down the Road – Hard.

CPR Initiative's June 16, 2022 filing kicked off a 90-day statutory deadline for the EPA to grant or deny our Petition. Accordingly, just 90 43 days from now (and counting) the EPA must determine whether or not GHG pollution "presents an unreasonable risk of injury to health or the environment" — and, if so, to kick-off a rulemaking proceeding to limit that risk.

If not, we will need to see the Agency in court.

Getting this done right will not be easy, but it is possible, if we do it together.
Will you join the effort? Endorse the Petition and Sponsor our Campaign today!
