Dear Soaring Heights Families,

Thank you for a terrific first three days of school.  It is wonderful to hear the halls filled with laughter and excitement as our students make new friends and learn the routines of school. We are learning about our school motto RISE (Responsibility, Integrity, Service, and Excellence).  These traits can be applied to any situation and are directly related to
school-wide behavior expectations. Please take the time review RISE with you child(ren) as this is something that we will be referring to throughout the year. Students will have the opportunity to earn pride awards for exhibiting these traits.  Additionally, middle school students will be able to earn three levels of badges in the following areas:  academics, extra-curricular activities, citizenship, health & wellness, community service, attendance, mentoring, and school spirit.

Please take a moment to review the district Code of Conduct.  All families are required to sign the acknowledgment receipt for the SVVSD Code of Conduct.  Please see the information below how to sign the acknowledgement electronically.

We are excited to see everyone during our Back to School Nights on August 30 (grades K-2), August 31 (grades 3-5) and September 1 (grades 6-8). Back to School Nights will be one hour in duration for each grade level and will be staggered between 4:30-6:30. More Detailed information to come shortly.

Thank you for your patience during pick-up and drop off. As a reminder, it is important to put a sign with your child’s name and teacher in your windshield, pull as far forward as possible and to pick up only in designated areas (do not have your child meet you on CR5).

Please familiarize yourself and your child with the
Standard Response Protocol (SRP). Throughout St. Vrain Valley School District, our schools use the SRP as a common procedure and language for all emergency drills. Every month we will conduct a fire drill, along with two yearly lockdown drills, lockout drills, and shelter in place drills. Teachers and staff will use the same language when performing drills and talking with children.  The protocols are posted in every classroom. More extensive materials on our protocols can be found here.  We will have our first fire drill next week.

We strongly encourage you to send healthy snacks for your child.  Doing so will help students sustain their energy throughout the day and perform to their best abilities.  Please use the
suggested snack list as a guideline.  For more information on our food policies, see the Student Family Handbook on our website. Please remember we do not celebrate birthdays with treats for an entire class and students are not allowed to order Door Dash during the school day.

Middle school students interested in girls’ volleyball or cross country (5th graders can participate) can register using the information below.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need assistance.  We are looking forward to an amazing year.

Best Wishes,

Cyrus Weinberger, Principal

This insurance fee will be added for every eligible student K-12 on August 1st. Please note that any student with an unpaid balance for iPad insurance from the previous year will not be eligible to join the pool this year until they pay off the previous year’s balance.

2022-2023 LTP Student iPad Insurance: $25

The iPad insurance fee will be reduced or waived for students eligible for a free or reduced price lunch under the federal poverty income guidelines and homeless students as defined by McKinney-Vento.

UNIVERSAL FREE MEALS HAVE EXPIRED FOR THE 22/23 SCHOOL YEAR. Upon the start of the school year, students will be charged for lunch unless they qualify for free or reduced-price meals. We are encouraging families to apply for meal benefits for the 2022–2023 school year  to ensure negative balances do not accrue on students’ accounts.

Applying online is the fastest way to get your application processed to ensure no lapse in coverage happens. Applying online also reduces the chance for errors and the need to send applications back to families to correct.

If you do not believe you qualify for free or reduced-price meals, please make sure that there is money on your students’ accounts. You can add money to their account through MySchoolBucks

For more information, please visit the Nutrition Serivces website.

Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.

To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct for the current school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here.

Erie UpLink’s Tiger Packs program can help bridge the food gap over long weekends and holiday breaks for those students who normally have free breakfast and lunch at school. Tiger Packs contain kid-friendly, nonperishable food items and are delivered to the students’ doorsteps once per month on the Wednesday prior to school breaks. Families can sign up online at https://www.erieuplink.org/tiger-pack-registration.  Registration must be done each school year.

Please take a moment to fill out our volunteer interest form for the 2022-2023 school year. Please email ptoboard@shpk8pto.com with any questions. We can't do all the amazing events and fundraising without our amazing volunteers!
