'Up From the Ashes' with Rod Haynes

We'll take a look back at the catastrophic fire at First Unitarian in August of 1966 and the restoration that followed, as recalled by one who witnessed it.

Rod Haynes is a native of Lincoln, RI, in the village of Limerock. A former member of First U, Rod works in the federal government's Affordable Care Act program. Rod and his wife Daria now call Bellingham, WA, home, where both have served on the Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship (BUF) Board of Trustees. We welcome him during one of his periodic visits to the land and church that he used to call home.

Music will be by Claire Rosenbaum.

We are worshiping in person, expecting all to be masked and fully vaccinated. If you cannot join us in person, click here to watch on our YouTube channel at 10am.

Gather with friends and newcomers in breezeway after worship service

It's summer, which means it is time for refreshments and fellowship in the breezeway after worship. Gather with friends and family after our 10am worship for cool summer treats and a time for socializing.

Legislative Ministries Team to meet August 14

The Legislative Team will meet in the Parish House following the service next Sunday.  We'll review the progress made in the 2022 legislative session and start planning ahead.

All members of the congregation are invited to join the discussion.  If you can't attend in person, click here to send input to Kate McGovern.

Upcoming Summer Service Series preview

Check out upcoming speakers, topics, and musicians for the four remaining Sundays in our Summer Services Series.

August 14, Atwater - Donnelly. With readings in the form of questions, join Aubrey and Elwood for a provocative and evocative service of songs and queries. Members of the congregation will be challenged to join in asking difficult questions during turbulent times in an effort to move forward in positive and helpful ways.

August 21, "Letting Love Guide Us" with Rev. Mary Margaret Earl. We are deeply connected to some animals. Compassion and kinship guide those relationships. But modern systems have broken our connection with other animals. This week we consider how we can reawaken our connection and widen our circle of compassion. Music by Janice Okoomian.

August 28, "Growing Through Grief and Gratitude" with Sorrel Devine.
Sorrel will weave together her experiences growing up in a Scottish community in Oregon, the loss of her husband last year, and the insights gained on the pilgrimage to Scotland this spring. Music by "Sally Racket."

September 4, with Anne Connor; music by Nancy Nicholson
