Scotland + Venice, coming to a screen near you

Summer is in full swing in Venice. With three months left of this year’s presentation by Alberta Whittle, and plans forming for next year’s International Architecture Exhibition, we’re feeling truly immersed in The Floating City.

But what if you aren’t able to get out to Venice?
Well, then Venice comes to you!

In partnership with LUX Scotland, we’re thrilled to announce the Scottish screening tour dates and locations for Alberta Whittle’s profoundly moving film Lagareh - The Last Born, a new work commissioned by Scotland + Venice and Forma.

Learn more below, along with the opportunity to pause while going behind the scenes of the work in a short film, and a last call for architecture proposals.

Last call for architecture proposals

How can good architecture and the built environment be more inclusive?

How can we create places for everyone that are healthy and sustainable, that allow everyone who experiences them to thrive?

We’re inviting submissions of proposals that explore these ideas, to be put forward to represent Scotland as a collateral event at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice.

The deadline to submit a proposal is noon on Monday 15 August 2022.

Pause

In this edition of Pause, we introduce a new short film with Alberta Whittle, who explores the themes of her work and provides insight into her process. Created by Becky Manson, filmmaker & videographer at National Galleries Scotland, this film sees Alberta in the surroundings of deep dive (pause) uncoiling memory in Venice, contemplating its inspirations.
