Create Your *NEW* OLLI Account
Because we have switched to a new online registration system, everyone -- including previous OLLI members -- needs a new account.
Click here for our new registration site. (If you had the old site bookmarked, please delete that old bookmark!)
How to create an account (instructions with screen shots)
After you create your account, you can purchase a membership by returning to the home page and clicking "Purchase or renew membership." We recommend you look around the site and get familiar with it.
You can browse courses on the site now, but you won't be able to add courses to your cart until August 15. In the meantime, you can review the instructions on how to request & prioritize courses to get a sense of how the new process will work.
Questions? OLLI staff is here to help. 907-474-6607 or UAF-OLLI@alaska.edu

Registration for Fall 2022:
How it will work
UAF-OLLI switched to a new online registration vendor with the goal of ending the extreme computer slow-downs and other problems we had with our previous system.
The new system allows us to return to a lottery to assign high-demand courses. The lottery takes into account the priority you assign to your requests. If demand exceeds the number of seats for a course, the computer will assign those seats by lottery based on your priority rankings. For example: Suppose enrollment in the course is limited to 12. If 15 people list that course as their first choice, only those 15 people will be put into the lottery for the 12 available seats. If only 10 people list it as their first choice, all 10 would automatically get in and a lottery for the two remaining seats would be run from those who listed that course as their 2nd choice.
As usual, OLLI staff and/or volunteers will enter registration requests for members who cannot or prefer not to use the computer to register themselves. Just get your course requests to the office by August 22 at 2:00 pm.
REGISTRATION TIMELINE:
Aug. 15 - 22: Submit registration requests (either online or to OLLI staff)
Aug. 23 & 24: Lotteries run (registration paused)
Aug. 25: Email notification of enrollment and waitlists sent
Aug. 25 onward: Immediate enrollment available for all unfilled seats

OLLI is Hiring!
OLLI Program Director Sarah Garland is retiring as of Nov. 1, and current Admin Assistant Cheyenne Martinez will take over as director. We need to hire a new admin assistant. This person will work 40-hour weeks while OLLI classes are in session (two 10-week terms per year) and 20-hour weeks while classes are not in session. The person needs to have strong computer skills, work well with OLLI-age adults, and be able to handle busy times.
We had hoped to have the link to the job description and application to send in this newsletter, but it is still in process. If you know of anyone who would be a good fit for our OLLI, please have them contact the office and we'll share the application link as soon as we have it.

Guys/Gals Read Presentation
Oct. 10, 12:15 - 1:30
FREE; membership not required
Guys Read Gals Read needs your help! Interest in reading wanes at the 4th grade so GRGR brings adult readers into the 4th grade lunch time to read a graphic novel excerpt to provide a role model and encouragement. It’s a ~20min lunch time commitment. Reading via a zoom recording is also an option. All it takes is a willingness to read and a few minutes at lunch. The presentation on Oct. 10 will discuss more but interested folks could get lined up for school’s start now! Contact Bud Kuenzli at 907-590-1472 for more information. https://guysgalsread.org/
