Shave the Peak!

Time to Shave the Peak!

What's That?
August 04, 2022

Shave the Peak is a voluntary program led by Green Energy Consumers Alliance to encourage us to lower energy demand on days when the temperature goes above 85 degrees.  By decreasing demand especially at the time of day demand is highest -- 5pm to 8pm -- it reduces the amount of the more expensive and dirtiest fuel that goes online. Find out more about this program here. [ed. note: It's not a bad idea to lower our use of electricity every day. Our bills could probably be lower if we make a few adjustments.]

The Calendar has activities for all ages and experience. Use the search tools to see children/family events, sales, walks, events on a particular topic.... Whatever intrigues you. Explore your options for outdoor activities and learning opportunities!

See the Just Added Calendar for the latest additions.

See the opportunities for landowners and farmers on the NRCS calendar. The latest application period is for Conservation Innovation Grants for on-farm trials.

One more thing  - the Newport Tree Conservancy asked me to highlight a new invasive - Beach Leaf Disease - which was discovered in southwestern RI in June 2020. The disease can cause tree decline and death. More info....
