Let's talk about comments. Again!

We've done a deep dive on the DEIS comments in order to share our findings with you and our partners.

Yes on 4th: 1,969
Yes on 5th: 22
No on 5th: 180
No build: 282
Questions Only: 202

Total of 2677, out of 5,195 comments received on the entire DEIS, which is 51.5% of the comments for this project reference the CID segment particularly.

We sorted and categorized the comments (by hand, on paper, with humans). With comments related to the CID segment, as best we could. We tried very hard to be literal: don’t interpret, don’t read between the lines, read only what is written. I’ve then counted the above categories.

Each comment counted once – if they were for one or another of the alignments, that’s where it was counted even if they also had questions (or if yes on 4th was coupled with no on 5th, I counted the yes.) Comment counted as “Questions Only” did not state a clear preference, although for many you could like ferret one out if you look at the specific questions. We did not do that for this analysis.

Do you want to read all the comments?

Here's your chance. Let us know what you find out.

Percentages are percent of Total Comments that reference the CID segment specifically. Questions are specific to the CID segment as well.

One more chance to comment in this particular decision-making phase.

If you want to comment at the full Sound Transit Board meeting this Thursday, 7/28, find information on that here.

Know that many people will sign up to comment, so definitely consider submitting written comment and/or be prepared with a 1-minute version of your comments.

Chinese language interpretation will be available at this meeting (Cantonese and Mandarin). If you have additional questions about interpretation or other accommodations, contact Sound Transit.
