Things are ramping up for this year's WHIMA Fall Conference at Stoney Creek Hotel in La Crosse- Onalaska on Thursday, September 15, 2022. This year’s theme “Whole New World” couldn’t be more fitting to the times.

We hope you will join us as we provide education on non-traditional roles outside of HIM, all things telehealth, ICD-9 to ICD-10 retrospective chart review for medical research, CDI, managing a remote HIM team, and a registries panel. Students can learn more about virtual interview soft skills and electronic job applications.

Just a few highlights of this year’s conference. Of course, there will be the infamous not-so-silent auction to raise funds that support WHIMA’s scholarship fund.

WHIMA wants to show our members and student members how much they are appreciated through a fun little ‘Give Back’ challenge. Curiosity peaked?

The 21st Century Cures Act required changes to the release of notes, labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies. This session will take a Frequently Asked Questions approach to address how some providers interpret and comply with the rule while not losing sight of the original intent of the rule. Meaning and interpretations may vary, but if potential violations are investigated, intent may matter more than interpretation of the rule. The session will also take a look at the Cures Act from the patient perspective.

Vote for the health information leaders who will make sure healthcare is more connected, accurate, and innovative than ever before through their positions on the 2023 AHIMA Board of Directors, the Commission on Certification of Health Informatics and Information Management, and the Council for Excellence in Education.

Information about each candidate is available on the ballot candidate website by going to AHIMA.org. The polls close July 25 at 5 p.m. CT.
