U3A Casey Bulletin July 24, 2022
Rossmoyne Office Celebration.
The celebration to open our Rossmoyne office was well attended by members & guests Thursday, July 21.
After the opening introduction, Lynne Macdonald & Frank Bannan provided their thoughts as members & tutors at U3A Casey.
They encouraged more members to get involved as a tutor or class leader as they found the experience very positive.
The office was "officially" opened by Noelene Duff - Administration Chair for Casey Council with the "ceremonial" cutting of the cake.
Noelene has been very supportive of U3A Casey & is a supporter of U3A in general & what it provides for the community

An enjoyable morning tea providing members the opportunity to mix & chat concluded the opening celebration

Semester 2 new classes
Semester 2 starts August 1

Exercise for Ladies
Come along and have fun with this moderate-intensity exercise class aimed at improving strength and endurance, to be completed mainly by standing up. The exercises can also be performed seated if required. The format would include a warm-up, followed by exercises that would vary from week to week, including strength, core, balance and aerobic activities. Finishing with a cool down and stretches. THIS CLASS WILL NOT RUN ON THE FIRST WEEK OF EACH MONTH - but will run on the 2nd,3rd,4th, and 5th Mondays of each month.

Exercise for Men - followed by a sausage sizzle
This is a gentle men's exercise class concentrating on movement to enhance flexibility and balance. Most can be done seated if required. The idea is to provide ideas for participants to practice at home between sessions. The sessions will be followed by a social sausage sizzle for those inclined to chat over snags and coffee

Walking Basketball
Walking Basketball is a fun exercise activity in an indoor stadium, so no weather worries. Participants need to be relatively fit and take responsibility for their own health and well-being. Basketball Victoria is providing us with materials and instruction to get the class going. Get some friends and come along. Anyone can play - you don't need to have previous experience playing basketball.

Fishing Group
Mario Mizzi leads the monthly fishing group
Many ladies enjoy fishing & Mario would like to see you join him & his group 
Do you love to fish? Maybe you're experienced or are willing to share your knowledge or you'd like to learn a bit more, or learn from scratch - whatever your level the group will plan and work together for everyone's benefit and shared friendship. The group will meet once a month at Fiddlers Green to discuss fishing spots, techniques and equipment. The actual follow-up fishing day/s and locations will be determined by the group.

Edrington Park Village

Set within "Old Berwick" and once home to Lord and Lady Casey, Edrington Park is set on five acres of tranquil, heritage-listed gardens and picturesque landscape.
Casey Manor, built in 1905, serves as the magnificent centrepiece and community centre of the village, Sketch your story and Book Club 2 - Between the Covers  - are scheduled for  Edrington.
Possibly a snooker/ pool group is starting there soon also.

SKETCH YOUR STORY
Document in sketches your daily lives, where you live and travel. This course is for Urban Sketchers and those wanting to keep a visual diary, a travel or nature journal. The focus is on using sketchbooks and sketching on location both indoors and outdoors.

Book Club 2 - Between the Covers

Casey Cardinia Libraries provide a great book club service. Every month we collect multiple copies of a book our group has pre-selected. We then meet to discuss it, which is a great way to broaden one's reading and maybe gain insights into a variety of books

Edrington Village has a dedicated pool room available for use
Can you assist?
All organisations require a number of members to exist & operate.
U3A Casey is looking for members who can assist in many ways - some small some a bit more involved.
There are many seniors within the Casey Council area - the area serviced by U3A Casey - who are not aware of what we offer.
Some are at home wanting to continue to learn, exercise, and socialise, but do not know where to go.
We need to make them aware of what U3A Casey can offer - the decision is then theirs if they want to be involved with U3A Casey.
Help us to help them by getting involved with the running & promotion of U3A Casey.
Every little bit helps.
