2022 NBL1 North
July was a tough period for the Kenfrost Homes Dolphins and The Ground Marlins which included a three-game road trip taking on the Brisbane Capitals, The Northside Wizards and the Southern Districts Spartans.
The Dolphins had to do this without Cayla George who was in the US with the Opals. They were successful against the Brisbane Capitals in the first game which is largely down to the tremendous effort from Penina Davidson’s double double, 24 points and 16 rebounds. Unfortunately, Penina suffered an injury in this game and was unable to play in the next two games where the Kenfrost Homes Dolphins suffered losses.
The Ground Marlins had two wins on the road beating both the Brisbane Capitals and the Northside Wizards, but lost to Southern Districts Spartans in the third game. Ben Ayre had another standout performance averaging 27 point per game over the three games. He was ably supported by Lat Mayen who average 18 point per game for this road trip.
The Kenfrost Homes Dolphins need to win the next two home games to keep their finals hopes alive. Currently in sixth place, they have two tough games ahead playing Mackay Meteorettes tomorrow night, 29 July 2022 and Townville Flames next Saturday night, 6 August, also at home.
The Ground Marlins are currently in fourth place and need to win their last two games to hold onto their current position on the ladder. This is important as fourth place provides us with a home quarter final where we would take on the team that finishes fifth.
Details of the next two home games are below:
