This month features two press releases from the U.S. Army Band and ResMusica (French news outlet), and the release of my 2019 flute quartet.

U.S. Army Band awards Takht

The United States Army Band has awarded Takht "runner-up" in their Chamber Music Composition Competition. In plain English, that means it made it to the top 5 submissions out of over 200 entries submitted from over 40 states!

The Latest from France

I am so proud to have worked with the staff and musicians from IRCAM and ONDIF to bring my newest concerto, Meshahid, for piano and orchestra, to life this past month in Paris. Concerti for large orchestras are rare for any composer to have premiered. I feel so privileged to have not just one, but two of these large-scale works premiered right before I turn 30 next month (!)

A Hummingbird Told Me

My 2019 work for flute quartet is now available on YouTube. It was initially written in collaboration with choreographer Mariana Oliveira as part of the New York City Ballet Choreographic Institute. The work takes its inspiration from Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird, by Mexican surrealist painter Frida Khalo.
