Tickets are now on sale for the Dance Scratch on Wed 5 October at the Old Fire Station. We're delighted to have Nathan Grassi helping us produce this event and support the artists sharing new works in progress who are:
ODF members Andy Solway, Ayala Kingsley, Ségolène Tarte and our regional guests from High Wycombe Dew Dance.

CREATIVE LABS

Creative Lab is a self organising session by those who attend – Bring ideas to share and try out together in the space and have time for feedback/discussion or use this time to rehearse something you are working on.
Please email us to confirm your place as we will continue to limit numbers for safety and comfort. Remember to wear layers as we will keep the window/doors open for ventilation, so bring what you need to feel warm and a drink.
We also ask/recommend if possible that you take a lateral flow test before attending and not to come if you have any covid symptoms or feel unwell. FREE to attend for members and by donation for non members.

Last-Minute Reduced Rate Space Deal
The last-minute reduced rate space deal has been really successful with 105 hours of space made available to artists from May to July.
What is it?
Enquiries should be made no more than 7 days before the date when you want space.
Space is for rehearsal or artistic development only.
How much?
It's £10 per hour, minimum 3 hours.
When?
The last-minute offer is available every single day including Sundays from 10.00am to whenever the venue closes.
Use:
Rehearsal and artistic development
But not classes, income-generating activity or activity which involves members of the public.

Delve, draft, test, question, discard, run with or keep for later. A small group of artists will support each other’s process through listening, witnessing, communicating their experience and asking questions.
Each programme is for 4-6 artists - includes mix of online and in-person meetings, option of studio space, 3 mentoring sessions, final work in progress sharing

SHIFT
ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company and Dancers’ Career Development (DCD) have come together to provide a paid opportunity for freelance Hip Hop dancers who wish to explore different career options beyond performing.
Successful applicants will receive:
• a grant of up to £2000 to be used towards retraining or exploring a different career
• be part of a DCD’s Beyond Dance Mentoring Programme, powered by Moving Ahead, designed to give dance artists the opportunity to create
connections and networks outside of the dance sector
• one to one Personal and Career Development Coaching sessions
• access to ZooNation and DCD’s expertise and people
• peer-to-peer support.

Finding the resting in earth and body, mind and spirit. From seed to ancestor, connecting with the trees...past, present and future. Through awareness of breathing, stillness and movement in the flow of life in nature discover pause, resting and relaxation as part of the rhythm of the season and landscape; inner and outer. In celebration of the movement work of Suprapto Suryodarmo. An event during Big Green Week.
Wear all weather comfortable clothes, the park is a little hilly so good shoes are advisable. Meet in the car park at the main gates (not the smaller pedestrian entrance) of the park, on Headington Hill just up from St Clements and the junction with Marston Road. Free event. Open to all.

Cafe Reason
Café Reason offers regular open butoh classes and workshops. These sessions are suitable for all body types, ages, and levels of skill; no previous experience is necessary. There is a rotating pool of teachers, so that participants can benefit from different approaches to butoh training.

Dancer in Community Residencies
Dancin' Oxford are looking to recruit one or two dance practitioners who are committed to working at grassroots level with local communities. One will be resident in Barton and the other in Blackbird Leys.
The artists will become fully embedded within their local community area. They will develop key partnerships with local groups and organisations in order to build relationship and trust, and will identify relevant opportunities in response to local needs and wants; to increase access to participation and engagement in dance.

Moving with the Times Commission
Three dance artists/companies will be commissioned to present and showcase work as part of the Dancin’ Oxford 2023 Spring Dance Festival at Pegasus Theatre on 3 & 4 March 2023.
Each selected company or artist will receive a guaranteed £1,000 commission fee to create the work.
The commission also includes technical support, marketing and promotion provided by Pegasus and Dancin’ Oxford (including specific promotional material). Pegasus may be able to offer some free daytime studio rehearsal space (if available).
All selected artists will be expected to perform an extract of their piece live at a preview event ‘First Look’ at Pegasus Theatre on Friday 20 January 2023 at which there will be the opportunity for facilitated audience feedback.

Dance Reading Festival November 2022
1. JUMP! the dance showcase for any style at any level is back. JUMP is a platform for you or your students to showcase the amazing work they do.They are looking for 2 - 3 minute pieces of work, they can be work in progress, existing work, students' work, to be performed on Sat 3rd December (show 7pm - 9pm, tech rehearsal slots during the day) at Read College, St Bart Theatre) Please fill in this application form and we will do our best to fit everyone in! Assistant Producer -
Dance Reading is an arts charity committed to creating a thriving dance landscape that everyone can access in Reading and surrounding areas.
They're looking for an assistant producer, ideally someone local to Berkshire, who can support with the delivery of their annual festival this November.
Work would commence early October and finish early December; they anticipate the role allowing for approximately 20 days across this time period (based on a 7 hour working day), at a rate of £200 a day. Some work will be evenings and weekends during the festival and some based from home, with regular meetings with the festival team online and in person.

NEW - Oxford Community Impact Fund (OCIF)
This replaces all former funding programmes for communities including: Culture Fund, Green Neighbourhood Scheme, Youth Ambition Fund, Youth Ambition Holiday Activities Fund, Small Grants and Open Bidding.
Individuals can apply for small grants of up to £1k and organisations can apply for small or medium grants of £1k - £5k. Round 3 is open the Deadline is 17 October Find out more here
Arts Council England
National Lottery Project Grants - This fund has reopened with new guidance and criteria. You can apply for £1k - £100k. If you are applying for £30,000 or under, you will receive a decision in 8 weeks. If you are applying for over £30,000 a decision will take 12 weeks. You should read the guidance documents on their website before applying.
Who can apply: Individual artists and practitioners, community and cultural organisations, museums and libraries.
What you can apply for: Arts, museums and libraries projects that engage people in England with creativity and culture. Key dates: National Lottery Project Grants is open all the time, there are no deadlines.
Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP)
The fund supports creative practitioners thinking of taking their practice to the next stage to research, have time to create new work, travel, training, develop ideas, network or find mentoring.
Funding activity: Research and development opportunities, building new networks, creating new work
Grant range: £2,000 - £10,000
Eligibility: Individual artists and/or creative practitioners. You can find full eligibility criteria in the guidance for applicants. Organisations cannot apply.

Sport England - Queen's Platinum Jubilee Activity Fund launched
Sport England have launched a new £5 million fund to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee that aims to use sport and physical activity to bring communities together and tackle inequalities.
Using money from the National Lottery, the fund will make awards of between £300 and £10,000 to community organisations in support of new projects providing opportunities to become more physically active. More information The £5 million pot is part of more than £22m of investment from the National Lottery in schemes across various sectors that'll celebrate Her Majesty's 70 years of service.
Dance Professionals Fund - The Dancers’ Hardship Fund
Who can apply: Professional dancers. Support given to freelance dancers across genres including ballet, contemporary, Black and Asian dance and hip hop including those with portfolio careers, e.g. choreography, who whose work would normally include employment in the subsidised dance sector. The emergency Arts Council support grants have now ended but you can still apply for support from the Dance Professionals Fund
The Dance Freelance Task Force (aka Dance FTF/DFTF) is a proactive and creative group of individuals that met during the Summer of 2020 while being on the Freelance Task Force. The group joined together to lobby, champion and highlight the issues facing freelancers in the dance and movement art sector as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic, and consists of freelancers based Nationally who's work spans across the UK, Europe and beyond.
