Hello there, beautiful soul!

Hope this message finds you well.

Catalyst is moving along in its Fund9 journey and that means we've spent a lot of time collectively on data analysis and output during past week or so. A lot of community effort went into polishing and finalizing the next set of guidelines that help us all navigate the road ahead. Thank you once again to everyone who shows up and participates every week making this possible.

So what is it exactly that Catalyst has been up to this week? Let's dive right in.

Proposer flagging done. What's next?

Catalyst is now fully underway in the Assess QA (Quality Assurance) stage where community takes a deep dive into the quality of assessments made by Proposal Assessors (PAs) on proposals in Fund9. Process started with 22k initially, and now adjusted (bots, copies, etc.) to about 15k admissible unique assessments heading to veteran Proposal Assessors for further review. This is an important part of the process. Why?
  • To add a layer of quality assessment to the review process
  • To filter out biased or substandard assessments
  • To highlight and reward high quality assessments
  • To learn and iterate

If you wish to learn a bit more about what/how Veteran Proposal Assessors (vPAs) work - I encourage you to check out these guides for each of the groups:

Rewards?

There are some $160,000 in ada available - working with updated rewards scheme (see this document). Number of iterative pilot changes have been introduced, most notably:

  • In order to be eligible for rewards - there will be a minimum threshold of assessments to complete: 200 reviews
  • Maximum rewarded work (reputation & renumeration) as a vPA is to the amount of 5,000 reviews only
  • There is an agreement rate that determines how far your answers deviate from all the participating vPAs and appropriate rewarding/slashing will take place
    • This element is still under community review and final adjustments might be made. It is closely related to dispute resolution process that is community owned and led as well. Stay tuned.
Timeline?
  • Planned vPA work start: Jul 22 (TODAY)
  • vPA work end: Aug 1 @11:00 UTC
Meanwhile - for everyone else - this is the upcoming timeline that's expected throughout the entire Assess QA stage.

Cardano Catalyst Women

Cardano Catalyst Women, as listed on their invite, is a space for learning, collaboration, and creation rooted in behaviours and intentions that support women as builders within Cardano. In their own words "Our aim is to give women the confidence to take action and participate to their full potential within Catalyst, where they might otherwise have remained as an observer."  Make sure to pay a visit or rewatch past recordings directly on their website here. Amazing conversations by amazing people.

Milkomeda Accelerator Day

With the support of Project Catalyst, and in cooperation with dlab, Milkomeda team is glad to invite you to their first Demo Day! This virtual Demo Day will bring Batch 1 startups to showcase what they have been building for the last 6 weeks on Milkomeda C1. You can find their original funded proposals here and here. Keep up the great work!

Community Governance Oversight

Community Governance Oversight was funded in fund 8, to continue its work of recording and overseeing governance issues in Catalyst (see proposal here).

It held the first meeting of its Fund 8 project on Thursday - 14th July - you can watch it here.

The focus of this first meeting was clarifying exactly what our scope will be on the 4 main elements of governance we are funded to examine:

  • Challenge setting
  • Circle v4 election process
  • dReps
  • Catalyst parameter changes

One key decision of the meeting is that we plan to set up a community-maintained register of Catalyst parameter changes:

  • What changed
  • When, how it was decided on
  • How it was communicated to the community
  • Any thinking and research behind the change
  • What conditions would have to be met before the Catalyst community could take control of this parameter, etc.

Anyone will be able to submit the details of any parameter change they notice. They will be using the register to help us

  • Get an overview of what changes are happening
  • Think about how communication and community input could be improved
  • And help the community track progress towards Voltaire.
  • Watch this space for information on how and where to record it if you notice something that you believe is a parameter change.

IdeaFest is one week away!

Now that Assess QA stage is underway - what other great opportunities are there for you as a Proposer? IdeaFest! Mainstay community event that celebrates the genius of community ideas and spreads the message wide and far.

Idea Fest is an open virtual Community Event for the Catalyst Community to present ideas and projects and to throw light on the future builders of the Cardano Ecosystem & Community. This is your spot, to present your finalized Fund9 Proposals to the Community, to find collaborators and to promote your Ideas and Projects to the Voters.

Where & how?

Caught my attention!

There is new town hall in the Cardano space. Great opportunity to visit this bi-weekly event which will be hosting specific break out rooms in your local languages. Interested in running some? Make sure to get in touch with organizers and start networking. How to get in touch? Follow this linktree page here.

Number of the week: ~15,000

Almost 15,000 reviews are now with veteran Proposal Assessor during the current stage of Assess QA. Time to find out about the real underlying quality of work submitted by all Proposal Assessors. Good luck everyone!
