Dear EMAlumni,

I'm happy to be writing to you all as the new President of the EMAlumni Association and to share with you a little about myself and what's cooking in the Association.

I'm Jess (she/her), I'm Italian/English and I'm an EMA graduate from 2016. I've been involved with the EMAlumni since graduating - I first started as an Ambassador for the Belgium EMAlumni Hub organising social events in Brussels with fellow alumni. In 2021 I was elected as a board member where my main responsibility was to bring the Association a new website to give us a virtual home.

I submitted my candidacy as President because of my interest in growing and nurturing the organisation. I feel a strong attachment to the EMAlumni community as a space to connect with like-minded people who I believe share an identity through the unique EMA experience we've all had. I'm honoured to have been elected, together with three new board members, Filipe Vendrame (2016), Florence Carrot (2014), and Camille Roux (2016).

In July, the new board met in person in Brussels and that was a great opportunity to set out our vision and activities for the coming year. Besides continuing the great work that the EMAlumni has been doing for the past years, we discussed new engagement opportunities open to all alumni, whether they be of a professional nature or a social one.

To bring the association closer to its members, we intend on engaging in conversations about who we are and what we can do together. For this, we are opening channels of communications to hear you out and keep co-creating this space we have together. We'll be circulating surveys, organising online and in person discussions and have a dedicated section called 'the idea box' on our new website where you can express your ideas.

That being said, I wish you all a lovely autumn and look forward to meeting you and interacting with you. I'm always available for a chat, you can reach out to me at jessica@emalumni.org :)

Warmly,
Jess

The work of Intersex Greece led later in summer 2022 to the adoption of a bill by the Greek Parliament, that officially bans the surgeries performed on intersex children.
