A 64 year old blind man who cycled 800 miles from Colditz Castle in Germany to West Bromwich has raised more than £75,000 for charity – and says the total left him “completely stunned”.
Dave Heeley, known as Blind Dave, did it in one week, finishing at the Hawthorns football stadium. Dave is the first blind person ever to complete the ultimate endurance race of seven marathons in seven days over seven continents.
The cyclists were given a rousing reception when they returned to West Bromwich with a guard of honour outside the Hawthorns
