HNY updates
ICB or Place Policy Guidance/Key
Following the policy consultation which took place in June, the ICB has now formally approved a full suite of HR policies.

Previous CCG Staff
For previous CCG staff who transferred into the ICB, their CCG/place contractual policies will continue to be applied to them under TUPE regulations. However, there is now a single suite of non-contractual policies that will apply to all employees of the ICB. This will aid in consistency and fairness across the organisation. The contractual policies which will continue to apply to previous CCG staff are listed below:
  • Attendance Management Policy
  • Annual Leave Policy
  • Grievance Policy
  • Maternity, Paternity, Adoption, Parental Leave Policy
  • Other Leave Policy (Inc AL at NEL)
  • Pay Protection Policy
  • Professional Registration Policy
The attached guidance/key has also been developed to refer back to explaining whether a policy is contractual or non-contractual and whether the previous place policy or the new ICB policy should be applied. Place policies are still available via CCG websites / shared drives, however please contact the HR team if you are unable to locate one.

New starters / new roles post 30 June 2022
For all new starters into the ICB or those who started new roles in the ICB post 30
June 2022 the full suite of ICB policies will apply to them. All ICB policies are available here: Documents and Publications - Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB). If you have any questions, please email HR on HR.HNYY@nhs.net.
NEW Humber and North Yorkshire Stroke Patient and Carer group – in association with the Stroke Association
The Integrated Stroke Delivery Network in Humber and North Yorkshire, in collaboration with the Stroke Association, wants to recruit patient and carer representatives who have had a stroke - or experience of caring for someone who’s had a stroke - to form a Patient and Carer Representative Group.

Please find attached advertising material as we look to establish a new Stroke Patient and Carer group within Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Stroke Delivery Network footprint. Ideally we would want to see representation from all areas within the partnership.

We do not have a start date for the group yet, however depending on applications, we may be ready to hold our first meeting in October/November time and every other month thereafter. It would be greatly appreciated if you are able to share the materials with friends and colleagues who may be interested.
Your Birthing Choices
Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnerhip asked women and birthing people across the patch what was important to them when choosing where to give birth. Across Humber and North Yorkshire, the NHS and local partners are looking at ways to improve healthcare in our region. Last year, as we started to consider how maternity and neonatal care could be delivered in the future, we launched a survey to hear from new and expectant mothers, women trying to conceive, surrogates, other birthing people, and their families about what matters to them when accessing maternity services.

Working collaboratively with Maternity Voice Partnerships (MVPs) across the region an engagement exercise called Your Birthing Choices was co-produced to help us better understand what environment people would prefer to give birth in, what influences their decisions on where to give birth, what their main concerns are and what could be put in place to alleviate those concerns. An incredible 1,136 people participated and shared their views, through either an online survey or by attending a focus group. You can read what they had to say, here.
Hull NHS Place Director appointed
The ICB has undertaken a process to appoint NHS Place Directors for each of our six places, and these will be core members of the Place Committees. NHS Place Directors will be responsible for championing ICS strategies, policies and ambitions, managing staff locally in accordance with ICB policies and will also have delegated financial responsibilities. We are delighted to announce Erica Daley has been appointed as the NHS Place Director for Hull.

The process is continuing to appoint the final Place Director for York, and details will be published once available. Details regarding Place Directors previously announced can be found at www.humberandnorthyorkshire.icb.nhs.uk/place-directors.

Learning and Events
ICS strategy development session
As we continue to establish our Integrated Care System (ICS) in Humber and North Yorkshire, we are looking to develop an ICS wide strategy over the next few months.

We want this to be a living and evolving strategy, developed differently to how other strategies have been. Our aim is to work together, through collaboration and mutuality, to develop a strategy that is collectively owned and enables all partners to meet the health, care and wellbeing needs of our local populations. We are developing the strategy ambition and want the input from staff working across the different NHS, Local Authority, VCSE and other organisations which form part of the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.

We have started to hold regular open strategy sessions with colleagues across the Partnership. Two of these have already taken place on 25 May and 6 July 2022 and recordings from these sessions can be found here. For details of when the next meetings will be taking place and how to join these, please click here

Dealing with the media: tips, tricks and techniques
The Communications and Engagement Team is looking to set up a Dealing with the media: tips, tricks and techniques workshop for colleagues within the CCG – and we'd like to know if this is something you would like to participate in.The session would be approximately two hours and would look at how we can protect and enhance the reputation of the local NHS, while meeting the needs of the media, including interview techniques and tricks.

Our Senior Communications Officer, Tim Readman, is offering to share insights from his 12-year career in local journalism and more than a decade subsequently spent 'on the other side of the fence' in local government and NHS communications roles and we're also looking to bring together a panel of local journalists from print, digital and broadcast media who can speak about how they gather and present news.
