Dear Member,
I write to you from Skiathos, Greece, where over the last 2 weeks I have had multiple meetings with our fantastic hosts and explored the remarkable venue where the 8th World Trails Conference will be held. I’ve had the chance to meet some inspiring local trail people, like last night sitting atop one of the highest points of the island, I shared in an exciting evening of trail talk with local Skiathos trail enthusiasts. If these few spontaneous experience are anything to go by, the conference itself is going to be an event not to miss.
The World Trails Conference is so much more than simply a conference about trails, it is an important opportunity to come together to really learn from each other as a community of trails from 38 different countries and counting. It is a chance to celebrate why we all love trails, while also supporting each other in our shared endeavours for sustainable trails around the globe.
Together with the leadership of the World Trails Network, I look forward to welcoming those of you who are fortunate to be arriving here in Skiathos, and if you are still considering attending the conference in person, it is not too late to get a reasonable flight, find simple accommodation, sign up for a 5 day pre-conference trail journey with other trail experts, and participate in an event that will be remembered for years to come.
— Galeo Saintz
International Chair and World Trails Conference Organizing Committee Co-Chair
