A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Yesterday, following the Recovery Breakfast and Artisan Markets (which were great!) the NSW Minister for the Arts, Hon Ben Franklin MP, visited along with Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke MP to make a big announcement about our venue. See below for details.

Sadly, our planned Coffee Concert - The Heart Collectors on Wednesday has been rescheduled to Wednesday September 28 after COVID-19 had a few other ideas for the bands tour of the Central West. We have replaced this with an additional screening of the hit film Elvis at 10am which also screens this weekend.

And we welcome the company of performers for The Sapphires live on stage this Saturday night. Seats are still available but don’t wait until the last minute - book now!

JAZZ HANDS FOR COWRA CIVIC CENTRE

What a delight to see representatives from Cowra Dance Factory this morning, as the Arts Minister Ben Franklin announced $1.5 million for Cowra Civic Centre under the NSW Government’s Creative Capital program.

This is an outstanding announcement and very welcome news for Cowra Shire Council, and I thank Mayor Bill West, General Manager Paul Devery and Councillors for also joining us today.

The successful funding application is also testament to the hard work and vision of Manager Jonathan Llewellyn, supported by Arts Outwest.

Today’s announcement is great news for all who enjoy performing in this space… it is the proud home of the Cowra Eisteddfod for example, amongst many other local groups.

This project will see the installation of retractable raked seating, making it more accessible and comfortable for patrons, and allowing the space to be more easily configured through the range of performances and events that are held here.

This investment is on top of over $330,000 secured for Cowra Civic Centre earlier in the year under the NSW Government’s Regional Tourism Acceleration Fund.

These projects will ensure the Centre remains a go-to venue for many regional tours and events for many years to come, which in turn is great news for our local economy.

Four young Aboriginal women from regional Australia, who like singing country music, suddenly get the chance to change their tune and their lives. Starring duo Jazz Amore and tenor soloist Elias Wilson | $20*

Jazz Amore, two beautiful singers from Italy (via Leichhardt), will perform Italian songs of the 50s to the 90s such as O’ Sole Mio, Volare and Mambo Italiano. They will be joined by operatic tenor Elias Wilson singing popular Italian opera hits.
