The next edition of the Gloucestershire VCS Newsletter will be sent out on Friday 5th August.

Love Parks Week is back, taking place from 29 July to 5 August, giving people across the country the chance to shout about their wonderful green spaces.

Whether it’s walking the dog, picnicking with friends, or pushing our little ones on a playground swing, our parks give our communities, our children, and our pets a vital space to play, grow, and bond.

Love Parks Week is set up to celebrate and support the efforts of volunteers and workers up and down the country to maintain and protect our green spaces.

It provides a week of action for parks to run events in their local area.

To help parks managers, local authorities, town and parish councils and land owners take part in Love Parks Week and amplify the campaign, Keep Britain Tidy have developed a digital resource pack for you to download.

Please let them know if you are taking part and they will send you the digital resource pack to download.

The pack contains artwork for social media resources and artwork for posters and banners.

If you have any questions please contact, Marya Hemmings, Head of MB3 services on mhemmings@mulberrybush.org.uk or 01242 621200.
Consultation on Future of £738 Million Dormant Asset Fund (England)

The Government has launched a public consultation on what future good causes should benefit from £738 million of dormant assets funding in England.

Currently, the funding is spent on three social and environmental causes: Youth, financial inclusion and social investment.

The consultation will be open for twelve weeks to review whether these remain the right causes for where funding from dormant assets can be allocated.

The funding is made available through the Dormant Assets Scheme, which was recently expanded from bank accounts to include the insurance and pensions, investment and wealth management, and securities sectors.

All those with an interest, including the public, community groups, and industry stakeholders, are encouraged to submit their views by the 9th October 2022.

Community Circles

The Age UK Gloucestershire Community Circles Team can help people who would like to build a support circle around them.

From finding new activities to building on friendships, it all starts with a chat about what matters to you.

How it works

A Community Circle typically consists of two or more people, chosen by you. Together, you decide ways you can:

  • Spend more time with people you enjoy being with
  • Try a new hobby or pick up an old one
  • Go out more and join in with activities you like

The Circles Facilitator will talk to you about what is important to you and any changes you would like to make in your life, help you invite people to be part of your Circle, arrange your Circle meetings and provide information about activities near you.

“For me it’s about reconnecting with friends for a good chat and having something to look forward to. I’m really pleased I took the plunge and for anyone who feels lonely, I would definitely say give it a go.”  Alan in Stroud
