Summer is well under way, and with it a burst of culture in all its glorious forms. Starting with The Photographers' Gallery: Vee Speers exhibition, which opens this week on 29 July.

Vee Speers - retrospective exhibition

A beautiful retrospective exhibition of photographs by Australian-born, Paris-based artist Vee Speers opens at The Photographers’ Gallery, London in collaboration with FANZA. Metamorphosis follows the evolution of Speers’ work over two decades, with her carefully put-together and stylised images touching on themes of identity – from childhood innocence to physical growth and emotional awakening.

Prosecco Concert: a celebration of young New Zealand musicians

Royal Over-Seas League - Prosecco Concert

You're invited to join the Royal Over-Seas League to celebrate the ROSL/Pettman Scholars who have travelled from New Zealand to the UK for the summer. The recipients of the Pettman/ROSL Scholarship for a New Zealand Chamber Ensemble are chosen through annual auditions in Wellington and Auckland, New Zealand. Due to the pandemic they had to delay their scholars' visits and now they have two young ensembles join them this summer: the Felice Duo and Viereinigkeit string quartet.

House of Oz comes to Edinburgh Fringe Festival

House of Oz at Edinburgh Festival

The Edinburgh Festival welcomes House of Oz for a month-long run at the King's Hall, which will be transformed into an immersive, engaging "home hub" for Australia on the Fringe. Founded by Georgie Black, this all-Australian showcase for the creative arts is proudly supported by FANZA as part of the UK/Australia Season 2021-22.

This year will have the strongest representation of Australian talent to date, with an opening performance on 5 August by Macro, a 30-strong troupe that promises to deliver "a heart-in-mouth display of skill, daring and superhuman coordination".

And finally... Don't miss the Australian World Orchestra's hugely anticipated debut performance at the BBC Proms on 23 August. Conducted by maestro Zubin Mehta, the programme includes Brahms' Second Symphony and music by Webern and Brett Dean. The classical supergroup will be in the UK during August, where they will also perform at the Edinburgh International Festival on the 19th.

There will also be an explosion of colour across the UK throughout the rest of the 2021-22 Season, with exhibitions including Pip & Pop: When Flowers Dream, The EMU MAN, Tracing the Art of a Stolen Generation and Colour Power 22.
