Recording Now Available: Pharmacogenomics and Contraceptive Choice

Did you know your DNA could potentially predict the best family planning method for you? On Monday, August 1, the Contraceptive Technology Innovation (CTI) Exchange hosted a webinar exploring this concept. Megan Christofield of Jhpiego sat down with experts Dr. Aaron Lazorwitz (Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus), Elena Rueda Carrasco (Dama Health), and Dr. Kavita Nanda (FHI 360) to discuss the potential of pharmacogenomics to help personalize contraceptive choice. The recording from this webinar is now available here. Please share this video and your thoughts on this exciting topic by tagging the CTI Exchange on Twitter, LinkedIn, or YouTube

The Importance of Listening to Provider Voices in Contraceptive R&D

Last year, CTI Exchange Youth Council member, Margaret Gaw had the opportunity to sit down with four healthcare providers who work with patients to provide excellent contraceptive care in Zambia, Brazil, Nigeria, and Kenya. This blog highlights the voices of these doctors and nurse-midwives who have their fingers on the pulse of family planning provider perspectives. It asks them to reflect on the benefits and barriers of current contraceptives and their ideas for future methods. An important take-away is that providers’ perspectives can and should inform researchers and stakeholders involved in contraceptive R&D. Read it now.
