This is not only a beautiful tribute to the victims, but to everyone involved in creating the Soul Boxes. It gives me hope to see how many people have participated.

Additional dates available for viewing are now July 28, 29 & 30
Schedule your visit at info@soulboxproject.org
See note below: our call for volunteers has changed to Sunday July 31.

This venue, generously offered by Urban Developers + Partners, has allowed an installation of This Loss We Carry that is more dramatic than any of our other Portland exhibits Experience the visual power of over 40,000 Soul Boxes representing U.S. gunfire deaths or injuries so far this year.

On July 27 the exhibit is FREE and open to all. We will have materials available for you to make a Soul Box for a loved one or friend.

It was wonderful to see volunteers & donors who were able to attend our party in June. We remembered the thrill of the D.C. exhibit with an hour of videos while we visited over wine and nibbles.  As soon as it is available, we will share a link for that collection of videos documenting the exhibit from load-up in Portland to packing up in D.C.

Thank you News Outlets!

Many thanks to KPTV and KGW News for sending reporters to our exhibit. The cameramen spent a very generous amount of time capturing the power of our visual representation of the U.S. gunfire epidemic. Attracting the press is one way The Soul Box Project helps gun-sense activists connect.

Click the image to watch KGW's 3-minute story featuring interviews with Leslie Lee and a grieving Portland family making Soul Boxes for Keion Howard – husband, son, grandson, and cousin.

Watch for more coverage for the exhibit on July 27.
Of all the images PBS NewsHour could have used for this article about breakthrough national gun legislation, they chose the Soul Box Project exhibit in front of our nation's Capitol. Click the image to read.

We are influencing the decisions of individuals and policy makers with a visually stunning call to action unlike any other gun violence prevention initiative.

This is how our Project can connect the efforts of everyone working for a safer society.

Thank you Volunteers!
We need a few more.

Many thanks to everyone who helped install this exhibit and host the events.

Now we need 20 volunteers to help us take down the exhibit on Sunday, July 31. Many hands make light work and PIZZA is involved!  Click the button to join the Project's camaraderie!

YES! I CAN HELP ON 7/31

We are on topic with KBOO’s
Eclectic Pandemic

Turn on your ears for music and a talk with Soul Box Project’s Leslie Lee & community mental health activist Dr. Saskia Hostetler Lippy.

I was  pleased to participate in this KBOO show hosted by Thomas Martinez (aka Thomas James). He came to the exhibit earlier this month and was moved to ask Saskia and me to do an interview. He requested a playlist of songs that reflect the gunfire epidemic and the power of the arts to address trauma.

The resulting collaboration is worth a listen! Interspersing the music throughout the interview adds a very effective layer to the conversation. Saskia and I particularly enjoyed choosing our songs. It made me appreciate how many musicians have addressed gun violence and grief with their compelling voices.  ~ Leslie
