Somehow, I blinked and we are about to enter into August. I knew that the summer would go by quickly, but this one seems to have flown by. I wonder—how have you slowed down these past few weeks? What have you done to care for yourself, your neighbor, your relationship with God? How have you taken deep breaths?
In this week's Gospel, Jesus tells the Parable of the Rich Man and warns us against storing up treasure on earth. Grant, our soon-to-be-7-year-old, has a birthday coming up. His birthday list is quite extensive and—at the top of the list—are All. The. Legos. We've had conversations about the fact that present suggestions are nice but that doesn't mean we'll get all of the things we ask for.... and that's a hard concept for me as an adult, let alone for a child. How many times have we asked God for concrete things and God has said "no"... or "don't store up what you have now here"?
This week, I give you a challenge. How can you "let go" of the things that are holding you back from your relationship with God?
God's peace be with you today and always,
Sarah, Director of Youth and Family Ministries

Streaming Note
We have had some technical difficulties with our streaming setup. We're working on a fix, but in the meantime, Pastor Lindsay will record her sermons and upload them to our YouTube page, and we will also try to record the whole Sunday worship service and upload that as well.

COVID Safety
LMC is committed to the safety and wellbeing of those who attend worship. Given the rise in COVID cases and the contagiousness of current COVID strains, we encourage anyone who attends worship to consider using N95 or KN95 masks. We will provide masks for those who do not have them. The city of Chicago COVID advisory level is currently MEDIUM. When the city moves the advisory level back to LOW, we will invite everyone to be mask optional in the sanctuary.

Wilson Ave. Resurfacing
LMC has received a notice from the alderman that Wilson Ave. in front of the church will be resurfaced sometime soon. They have not announced a definite timeline, but the notice puts it "before the end of the year," so be aware that there might be some road work in front of the church this fall.
