Welcome back!

Now that school is out and kids are reveling in the freedom of summer, it's a great time for parents to talk to them about money. This conversation could include encouragement to take a summer job; or, for graduating seniors, a lesson on financial independence in college. If you have children, feel free to share a story about how you are making them financially independent. If you don't know where to start, we can help you.

In our spotlight this month we want to highlight a story that hits home. Please read Brooke's article in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, located in our Spotlight area below. Her story is unfortunately very common. We hope to spread awareness of the challenges women face with endometriosis, getting a proper diagnosis, and planning for the financial costs of procedures.

Thank you so much for reading and for your support!

What Buyers Need to Know in a Changing Housing Market

I enjoyed speaking with David Israelson about Canada's changing housing market. We are coming from down from a sizzling hot market, where houses were being sold within days, sometimes hours, after going on the market - but it's still a seller's market.

When Health and Finances Cross Paths... A Story That Hits Home

Getting a proper diagnosis and treatment has been a titanic job for Brooke. It wasn't until she was referred to Dr. Bambao that she could breathe and feel heard. In the meantime, the cost of her medicines was not covered by OHIP, and interruptions to work were her daily. Her surgery was postponed over and over because of COVID and scarcity of operating room time for female-related illnesses.

Last year, she underwent 4 1/2 hours of surgery to remove the endometriosis that was causing havoc on her organs and resulted in several complications. Having gone through that, Brooke has learned how little they know about the disease, and that the treatment is basically surgery. If it comes back….more surgery. Sadly, there is no cure.

One in ten women suffers from this condition along with the very challenging impacts it can have on the quality of life and fertility. We want to shine a light on the need for research and funding. If you want to donate to the cause, please use this link:

The final day to donate is July 31st! It’s very grassroots, much like breast cancer was years ago.
