Leading the conversation about Cyber around the Palmetto State...

August 2022

August Launches
Municipal Cyber Month

Minimum Baseline for Municipalities is Established

CyberSC, in partnership with the Municipal Association of South Carolina, announces August as Municipal Cyber Month with the launch of Minimum Baseline initiative.  The initiative is aimed at assisting South Carolina municipalities with reaching a minimum baseline of cybersecurity as part of their overall efforts to protect city assets from cyber attack.

Beginning with the website launch of the Minimum Baseline followed-up with "Cybersecurity for Leaders" training for municipal employees from cities across the Palmetto state.

This training will train municipal staff on cyberthreats and how to mitigate and protect against potential cyberattacks. It will feature tabletop exercises based on real world cases and reports similar to the work of the attendees. The real-life situations will offer practical learning experience.

The SC Municipal Insurance Trust and SC Municipal Insurance and Risk Financing Fund strongly encourage information technology staff, human resource staff, risk managers and others who serve in a risk management role to attend. Attendance at this session counts toward risk self-assessment compliance, and as an elective course for participants in the Risk Management Institute.
