Issue | July 2022
Dear reader,

Welcome to our July newsletter! In this issue we share with you about the BeWell project kick-off meeting; the take-home messages from the EHMA 2022 plenary sessions; our policy work; and changes in the EHMA Secretariat.

Over the past month, we worked on the launch of a new project called BeWell - Blueprint Alliance for a Future Health Workforce Strategy on Digital and Green Skills. BeWell is coordinated by EHMA and brings together a large and diverse consortium of 24 partners from 11 countries, among which several EHMA Members. The project will build an alliance of healthcare stakeholders to develop a green and digital skills strategy for the upskilling and reskilling of the health workforce. The BeWell skills strategy will be implementable at local, regional, national, and European level and constitute the basis for the creation of a large-scale skill partnership for the healthcare ecosystems, as part of the Pact For Skills of the European Commission. Officially kicked-off on 1 July, the BeWell project has already gained attention from multiple Directorate Generals of the European Commission including SANTE, GROW, and EMPL. This widespread support has given all partners confidence in the BeWell mission and commitment to develop a skills strategy for a better prepared and resilient health workforce in Europe.

EHMA also continues to support the spread of knowledge on effective health management across Europe. We are working on compiling the EHMA 2022 Conference Report that gathers the latest evidence on health management policy and practice. The Report will be officially launched in October, but we already invite you to look at the summaries of the three plenary sessions in our #EHMA2022 Special Newsletter Issue

Through our active involvement in policy networks and our work on policy topics, we represent the voice of health managers at the European level. In the next months, EHMA will publish two position papers on the digitalisation of medication management and the future skills needs of a resilient and effective health workforce. Finally, we plan to launch a consultation on the role of health managers to reduce the impact of medicines on the environment. The outcome will be included in a position paper gathering best practices and replicable strategies from across Europe.

Last but certainly not least, we added new staff members to the EHMA Team. We are pleased to welcome Georgia Karyami, BeWell Programme Manager; Ekaterina Sachek, Events Officer; and Camilla Lombardi and Austeja Tunaityte, Communications Officers. We also wish farewell to Tina Hadzic, who has been our Communications Officer for the past year and a half, and Sara Doguelli, who conducted an internship at EHMA. Tina is moving to The Netherlands with her family; while Sara is going back to Austria to write her Master’s thesis. We wish them the very best of luck and we thank them for their work and commitment towards achieving excellence in health management for a healthy Europe.

We wish you a lovely rest of the Summer,
The EHMA Secretariat
