Dear Colleagues,

I write with the bittersweet news that Danielle Farrell has accepted the position of program officer for Title IX and professional conduct in the Office for Faculty Affairs and FAS HR. Her last day at GSAS will be August 12.

Since joining the student affairs team in 2018, Danielle has excelled in her care of GSAS students. First as assistant director of student affairs and then as director of student services, she brought her extensive background in academic student support and social work to benefit countless students, working predominately behind the scenes. Some hallmarks of her time at GSAS are that she oversaw the implementation of a case management system to better track and manage student cases, created tools and resources to support student well-being and the faculty and staff who work with students, and re-envisioned GSAS Welcomes orientation events, further launching an online orientation series to successfully onboard students during the pandemic. She has also been a wonderful partner with other units across GSAS. Danielle’s contributions are many and will continue to benefit students for years to come.

I know that many of you have connected with Danielle in the past regarding student concerns. After August 12, while the search for Danielle’s replacement is ongoing, please email the Office of Student Services or reach out to Keenan Bailey, care case manager; Keenan can assist students who may be experiencing academic or personal challenges to provide them support, help them navigate and connect to resources, and strategize and problem solve. For any Title IX–related concerns, please contact Seth Avakian, who continues to serve as a Title IX resource coordinator for GSAS students. Students may also seek support for Title IX–related concerns from the Office for Gender Equity and SHARE.

Please join me in congratulating Danielle!

Best wishes,

Sheila Thomas
