US DoE and Toyota collaborate on fuel cell technology to support electrical grid

"At the end of August, Toyota announced that it had entered into a collaboration with the US Department of Energy (DoE) by way of that department's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in order to work together to provide a new fuel cell technology proof point. They will be taking aim at a multitasking power generation package on a megawatt scale for the purpose of developing the necessary tech to smooth the grid via renewable energy storage."
Hydrogen-Powered Passenger Trains Are Now Running in Germany

"In a bid to combat human-caused climate change, one state in Germany is rolling out a fleet of passenger trains powered entirely by hydrogen.

Five of these 'zero-emissions' trains began running late last month in Lower Saxony, a state in the northern part of the country. And over the next year, the regional rail line intends to replace all its diesel-powered trains with this new alternative, reports the

Fuel Cell Voltage Monitoring Considerations

"Knowing what's happening inside a fuel cell is a critical function, especially as fuel cells are continuing to be developed. One important aspect of this is to measure the voltage of each cell in a stack. Although this may sound trivial, it can be more complex and more expensive than it may at first appear due to high voltages, high channel counts, communication types, etc. There are a few products commercially available that are designed specifically for fuel cell voltage monitoring.

You can find the Cell Voltage Monitors (CVMs) and other electronic measurement devices currently available on our webstore. One feature that set CVMs apart from other, more mainstream data acquisition systems is the fact that the signal side is completely isolated and electrically floating relative to the communication and power supply portion of the electronics. This allows high voltage stacks to be measured and the capability of cascading multiple CVMs together to measure the large numbers of cells in high voltage stacks. All of the units listed have this ability."
