Hi, All,

In a few short weeks, Creative Nonfiction will head to a smaller office space. With most staff still working remotely, this move just makes sense, at least for the short term.

Happily, the move coincides with our annual summer sale! In an effort to preserve the health of our lower backs, just about everything in our online store will be on sale. And we mean, like, everything-must-go-prices-will-never-be-this-low-again super sale:

We should also mention that priority registration for fall online courses is open to all active Supporting and Sustaining level subscribers (who not only get first dibs on courses but also save an additional 10% on back issues and books and merch—and that's on top of sale prices!).

If you’re not yet a subscriber, you can start a new subscription here (just be sure to join at the appropriate level). And instructions to upgrade an existing subscription can be found here.

Happy reading,
Stephen Knezovich

Here are a few of our recent favorites:

@RuthNasrullah: That's hollow thunder, he says, meaning thunder w/o rain. I recall a night I camped solo; a storm descended on the field where my tent was pitched. Hollow thunder awoke me and I looked to my left to see a daddy long legs clinging to the mesh. The coyotes fell silent.

@Set_LS: Took a drive along the coast on a windy day. Windows down, hair blowing every which way. When I stopped for ga$, I tried to take off my seatbelt, only to discover my hair was wrapped in a knot around it. This is the story about the time I cut my hair in a parking lot.

9:13 PM · Jul 12, 2022

@anikawriter: Worn asphalt, broken curb, weeds growing among the gum wrappers and bits of plastic. In the shade of a dandelion leaf, a cricket chirps, singing in spite of it all.

12:43 PM · Jul 14, 2022

@clairepolders: I’m swimming at a distance from the shore and meet a woman who has also chosen to leave the beach crowds behind. When I greet her, she tells me about her painful divorce. Sorry, she says, I don’t even know you. I smile. Our aloneness in the water has created a bond.
