Our second GCFM open garden for 2022 will be on Thursday, August 4 at Laura Boyett's, 101 Hemlock Terrace, Augusta.  Everyone who has seen this garden has given it rave reviews. 

This is what Laura says about her garden, “From the riot of warm summer colors of the sunny cottage-style upper perennial beds, to the calming cool greens of the shaded woodland gardens, this has been a collaborative 11-year journey in creating a garden oasis in which to relax and unwind from the stress of the day and enjoy the colors and sounds of nature right in the heart of Augusta. Stone patios and benches invite you to sit and enjoy the flowers or the relaxing sounds of the small garden pond.  There is something for everyone including dozens of hosta varieties, and over 80 varieties of daylilies. The only thing the owner enjoys more than spending time in her gardens, is the opportunity to share them with others.”
 
Laura is a member of Kennebec Valley Garden Club.
 
Jason Allerding, owner of "All Things Landscape & Stonework" will talk about "Making Good Material Choices in the Garden" at 11 am.  His talk will emphasize the importance of maintenance and practical material selections--along side budget, design, and installation-- toward the goal of creating a landscape that offers both personal satisfaction and peace of mind for the life of the project.  At 1 pm, Carol Smith and Nancy Atwell will continue their series on floral arrangements in recycled jars, this time being inspired by the colorful flowers that bloom in our gardens in early August. 
 
A suggested donation of $10 payable at the garden pays for this event.

If you would like to come for the day, please bring a lawn chair and a picnic lunch. This is a perfect opportunity to visit with other gardeners. You may also come for a shorter self-guided tour between 10 am and 3 pm. Your own chair will provide seating for the lecture and demonstration.
 
The open gardens present a relaxing setting to spend time with other garden club members. You could carpool with your club or come alone. Plan to make new friends from other clubs. Come for a good time!
 
Directions:  Exit I 95 at Augusta, from the North the exit is 109A. From the South the exit is 100. Travel east on Western Ave (Route 11). At the stop light at the Augusta Armory turn right on Armory Street (for .2 miles), left on Capitol Street (for .1 miles); then right for Ganneston Drive (for .4 miles). Hemlock Terrace is the second right from Ganneston Drive.
