Summer Lincoln Creek Cleanup
Saturday August 27th,
Hopkins Hollow and West Basin
Meet at 35th and Congress, 4350 N 35th St.
For some reason Lincoln Creek collects a lot of trash. We think it's related to Milwaukee's legacy of redlining, unequal lending, a high level of absentee landlord properties and a low level of home ownership that only seems to get worse. Whatever the reason, there is lots of trash but 3-4 times a year, we make a huge difference with our cleanups. Please consider lending a hand and sign up. Advance registrations appreciated - click here
Lincoln Creek Greenway Visual Tour
On Saturday, June 25th, 48 people representing eighteen organizations participated in the Lincoln Creek Greenway Summit.
This summit was really a beginning, of a grass-roots driven effort to renew and revitalize the Lincoln Creek Greenway.
Nearby Nature has released a full summary of the Summit. Outreach to participants is going on now, for the formation of a Lincoln Creek work group that will lay groundwork for building a coalition and a work plan. The work plan would be a living document of projects, new, in progress and imagined. If you are interested and have not been contacted about getting involved in the Lincoln Creek Greenway work group, reach out to us at contact@nearbynaturemke.org. More info can be found at www.nearbynaturemke.org.
