Calling all mangrove-focused scientists & researchers!

On #WorldMangroveDay we released the latest data on global mangrove extent.
It is a first look at where we are in terms of mangrove coverage across our planet.

This latest update fills many gaps that have existed in previous global datasets and adds the years 2017 - 2020 to the time series. The dataset will be used to update the Global Mangrove Watch platform in a few weeks.

We offer it to you to be used in your work and only ask that you credit the Global Mangrove Watch. Research is at the roots of effective mangrove conservation and protection, so it is with great thanks that you carry this information forward into your work on ensuring the sustainability and longevity of these wonderful ecosystems.
