Keeping You Connected With Your Alma Mater
JULY 2022 EDITION
UPEI Summer Reunion 2022 a success!
UPEI was happy to once again host Summer Reunion, July 28–30! Thank you to all who were able to join us to share memories and reminisce, and celebrate exciting milestones together. It was fantastic to have our alumni groups return to our campus this year. Wishing everyone a happy rest of the summer!
The Honourable Catherine Callbeck reappointed as UPEI Chancellor for one-year term
The following message was distributed on July 21, 2022, on behalf of the Office of the President.

Dear Members of the Campus Community,

The Honourable Catherine Callbeck was installed as UPEI’s ninth Chancellor on September 29, 2018, with a term ending June 30, 2022. The Chancellor has been an incredible champion for the University for the past four years. Her ability to connect with students and other members of the UPEI and broader community is an inspiration.

Unfortunately, the Chancellor is not able to consider a full second term, but I am extremely grateful that she has agreed to serve in her role for an additional year to allow us time to plan the selection process for her replacement.

2023 Canada Winter Games Torch Relay—Represent your community! Become a torchbearer!
As a partner, sports venue, and Athletes' Village for the 2023 Canada Winter Games, UPEI is excited, along with the Canada Winter Games Host Society, to promote the 2023 Canada Winter Games Torch Relay.

Prior to every Canada Games, a Torch Relay takes place that sees the Roly McLenahan Canada Games Torch travel part of the country as it makes its way to the host city/province for the opening ceremony. Ceremoniously lit from the Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill, the Roly McLenahan Torch will ignite the official Games flame during the opening ceremony.

In keeping true with this time-honoured Canada Games tradition, the PEI 2023 Canada Winter Games will begin its Torch Relay on October 17, 2022, with a lighting ceremony on Parliament Hill before heading to Prince Edward Island. This symbolic tradition will build excitement and connect PEI to the 13 provinces and territories that will send 3,600 athletes, managers, and coaches, across 20 different sports, for the largest multi-sport event in the country.
