Think, Pray, Do
An Encouragement from our Youth Pastor
God delivered Israel from 70 years of Babylonian exile. He settled them back in the promised land where they built their homes. What a time of restoration for God’s people! Now it was time to rebuild the Lord’s house. The Lord addressed it through the prophet Haggai, and it involved their thinking. “This is what the Lord Almighty says: Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build My house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored says the Lord” (Haggai 1:7).
Our primary motive for contributing our material possessions, our time, or our service should always come from an obedient heart to the Lord. Let us remember that the slightest act of sharing is a response to the amazing grace Christ has given us. God uses a variety of people and means to accomplish His work. You and I play a significant role in this. We love Him because He first loved us and the cross calls us to respond. Like the Israelites, we will be challenged by the Lord to give thought to our ways as well. Repairs must be made to the Church’s roof, and we are believing that God can do immeasurably more than this!
This is an opportunity for us to believe in God and pray for His provision, but it is also an opportunity to work together, so that our rich generosity may result in thanksgiving to God. He is giving us the privilege of sharing while also providing us with the means to do so. “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8). May we all abound in the good work of maintaining the house of the Lord.
